Part 10: Welcome to the World

AN: Sorry this chapter took so long. A lot has happened since I last updated this story...
I've started dating the most kind, amazing, and beautiful girl I've ever know and I couldn't be happier.

Anyway enough about me. This chapter is long overdue. So I hope you enjoy it :)

After hours of pain and screaming you finally held your daughter in your arms, Macie Ackerman. She was tiny, so precious that you couldn't help crying when you first saw her. She had Levi's grey eyes and a small tuft of (h/c) hair on the top of her head. She was perfect.
"Levi?" You questioned looking at your short, grumpy husband, "do you want to hold her?" He froze with fear, he had never seen a baby before, let alone held one. He nervously nodded and came to sit next to you with his arms cupped to hold her. Slowly you passed Macie to Levi, his eyes followed her as she was carefully placed into his arms.
She squirmed slightly before settling down into his arms with a slight squeak. "She's beautiful..." Levi exclaimed a tear forming in his eye. You smiled, lying down. "You should get some rest," Levi suggested, kissing your forehead. "I'll take care of Macie." You nodded, slowly closing your eyes.

Just as you began to drift into sleep, a loud knock was heard on the infirmary door, followed by a shy sounding voice "(F/N)? Levi? May we come in?" You and Levi looked at each other and with a nod Levi said "state your name and business."
The voice replied. "It's us Levi, Armin, Mikasa and Eren. We've come to see how (F/N) and the baby are doing."
"Let them see her." You said weakly.
"Come in, but, quietly" levi exclaimed to the closed door.
Slowly, a blonde headed boy poked his head round the door. It was the perfect sight, Levi sat on the edge of the bed, holding little Macie in his arms, and you, smiling like a goof-ball. "Oh my goodness!" Armin squealed, shuffling over to Levi and Macie, crouching down beside them "she's adorable. Mikasa, Eren! Come look!" The two in question slowly gathered round Levi, making Macie begin to grunt in protest. "Oi, shit-heads. Back up." Levi snapped holding Macie close to himself, patting her back. "Shh. It's okay Macie, I won't let anyone hurt you. Never." This comment made you smile and blush slightly. Never in a million years did you think Levi would be a fatherly figure.
"Um, Levi?" Armin questioned, looking shyly at Macie "m-may I hold Macie? I'll be careful I promise." Levi looked to you, fear hidden deep in his eyes. You gave him a reassuring look, and with that he passed the small bundle to Armin. He looked at you, tears in his round, blue eyes. "She's beautiful (F/N)..." Armin said handing Macie back to her father. "She is, she's beautiful, just like her daddy." You smiled, your reply made Levi blush.
"Um, Captain Levi, sir?" Eren gingerly said.
"What, Jaeger?" Levi snapped. He's eyes cold and harsh, like icicles.
"I-I just wanted to wish you a bright and happy future with (F/N) and Macie." He stuttered, you knew Eren wasn't speaking the truth, but you kept your mouth shut so you didn't add any more awkwardness to the situation.
"I'm going to go train" Mikasa stated leaving the room. "Congratulation, shes cute." Eren ran after her, like a dog following its owner.
"Bye." Eren said as he softly closed the door behind him. There was a sense of awkwardness in the air. Shortly after Ernen and Mikasa left, Armin said "I'm going to go train too, I'll leave you guys with Macie." He waved goodbye and left the room.

Now it was only you, Levi and Macie left in the room. The silence was broken by a small squeal from Macie. "What's wrong princess?" Levi questioned the small infant.
"She can't talk yet babe." You said giggling. "She's probably tired, put her down in that crib over there." You said, pointing to a bassinet in the corner of the room. With your request, Levi placed her softly into the bassinet. "Sweet dreams my princess." He said kissing her soft forehead. He then came over to you, "you sleep well too my angel." He kissed your lips softly, as he turned to walk away you grabbed his arm.
"Stay." You stated, tears forming in your (E/C) eyes. With that Levi silently climbed into the single bed with you, spooning you slightly. "Of course I'll stay." He whispered as he nuzzled into your neck.
You slowly began to close your eyes, drifting peacefully into sleep.

This was your new beginning, a new start from your past of destruction and fatalities. You, Levi and Macie. The Ackermans. Humanity's strongest family.
