When you realize God cursed the serpent to eat dust. Part of the serpent's punishment was to eat dust all the days of its life. God also formed man from the dust of the earth but man fell because the serpent deceived them. So "dust" can also refer to the fallen carnal flesh. So the serpent eats carnal fleshly things. God raises believers out of the dust and tells them to walk in the Spirit. Their life is now hidden with Christ in God. The serpent can't eat the things of the Spirit.
