Chapter 1-1st Life

I ran as fast as I could, leaving my home. When I got far enough away I stood on a hill and looked down at the burning village that I had called home for my first life. I listened to the screams of the ones I loved with all my heart die out into the night like they never existed at all.

The humans had done this to us. They feared us even though we respected them, and look where it got us. I was alone now. They had used up all their lives to keep the men dressed in black away from me, now I had no one left to call my family.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" Another scream lifted up to the heavens, begging for the mercy they would not receive. The worst part is that I can't do anything. I was ordered by the Council and Chief to escape and live on.

~Flashback 3 days ago~

"Yuki, the humans are coming in two days time to burn us to the ground. We are not allowed to harm them in any way and so we have decided that to preserve the Wakahisa Clan you must escape along with all of the clans knowledge and power" the Chief Elder said to me.

"I-I don't un-understand! Why-y can't we-we all r-run or at the-e v-very least fight back-ck?!" I yelled in exasperation trying in vain to change their minds.

Damn my stuttering.

"We do not have enough time to evacuate the entire village and you know that we have sworn to never harm a human for as long as we exist. The treaty states that-" an Elder tried to calm me down but already knew I was having none of it. Still...my stuttering makes me appear weak.

"T-the hu-humans were-re supp-posed to not harm-m us as w-well yet t-their pl-planning to turn-n us into a-ashes! How-w ca-an you just-t sit there-re and a-ask me to r-run from every-everyone I-I c-care about-t!" by now I was on my knees in tears. "You-you c-can't honestly-y exp-pect me t-to agree to just-t a-abandon my family-y a-and home-me w-when we could-d be defending-ing our s-selfs and-" now I was the one being cut off.

"Yuki! You know very much as well as we do that the Wakahisa Clan NEVER go back on their word! We will absolutely NOT take no for an answer! Do you understand?! Or do we need to show who exactly who is in charge of this village?!" Another elder yelled at me as she glared through her glasses that rested on he nose.

"B-But-"

"No buts! This is final! You will leave at midnight on the night they attack and you will take the scroll we provide you with as well as another scroll that you may put together containing anything you may want or need on your journey. We wish you the best of luck and remember, DONT DIE!" With that I was transported out of the Councils Headquarters.

When I looked up I realized I was in my apartment. "I'm home!" I called to the empty apartment. I don't get why I say that every time I walk in here, it's not like anyone is here to greet me back.

My mom died while giving birth to me and my father gave his life in The Great Divide. The Great Divide was an earthquake that killed many of my people. My father is the reason that we did not all go extinct. He gave all of his remaining lives to keep us from falling into the deep cavern. I know what you must be thinking, if you have 9 lives why dose it matter if you all fall down? Can't you just be reborn? The answer would be that at the bottom of that cavern was Hell itself. The demons had been trying to escape through that crack in the earth but my dad, along with his other 5 teammates, closed the crack and died. I was 8 back than, now I'm 16 and living on my own.

I quickly grabbed all of my clothes, food, and money, and sealed them in a scroll. I also sealed my stuffed pink teddy bear that my father had given to me before he died in my scroll and my weapons my mother had handed down to me. I knew that in 2 days I would never see this place again.
