In the middle of the Sengoku era, Tsugikuni [Name] was born to her parents Tsugikuni Akeno and Tsugikuni [???]. She grew up with her two brothers, Yoriichi and Michikatsu. They were twins, which was considered to be a bad omen at that time because it was thought that it would lead to bloodshed on deciding who would be their rightful heir.
Their father declared he was going to kill Yoriichi because of the strange mark on his forehead. Their mother burned with anger and no one could control her. They had an agreement not to kill Yoriichi, but to send him to the temple at the age of ten.
Michikatsu and Yoriichi's rooms were separate, their clothing was different, their education and even their food was different. Maybe because of that, Michikatsu always saw Yoriichi clinging to their mothers left side.
Michikatsu pitied his brother. He pitied him because he got better treatment than Yoriichi, and because Yoriichi had never smiled since he was a baby. Everyone thought he was deaf because he didn't speak until the age of seven.
He decided to keep Yoriichi company out of his fathers knowledge, by playing dice or flying kites. [Name] liked to join in too sometimes. If Michikatsu were to give Yoriichi one of his things, their father would notice. So he gave Yoriichi a flute he made. Their father found out and forced him to stop playing with Yoriichi.
Michikatsu was then assigned their fathers vassal to train him to become the next heir. Although Michikatsu thought Yoriichi was deaf, Yoriichi spoke, asking him if it was his dream to become the strongest samurai. Michikatsu was shocked.
He dropped his sword to the ground with his mouth wide open. Yoriichi declared that he also wanted to be a samurai. But he couldn't, they already decided that he would be a priest. It was the first time he had heard Yoriichi speak but, next Yoriichi smiled. Michikatsu was disturbed by this. "Samurai risk their lives in battle... A boy who clings to his mother every time he sees her... could never become one." Michikatsu thought.
However, after that incident, Yoriichi stayed while he was training saying he also wanted to learn. For fun, their fathers vassal, who was teaching Michikatsu swordsmanship, gave Yoriichi a practice sword for fun. Michikatsu's Instructor told Yoriichi how to hold the sword and how to stand. He then told Yoriichi to strike him.
Michikatsu had never landed a blow on his instructor, but, in the blink of a eye Yoriichi had already landed four blows on vital spots of the instructors body.
A seven-year-old child had hit him on the neck, chest, stomach and leg. None of his bones were fractured, but he had fist sized bumps all over his body. Yoriichi did not want to be a samurai anymore, as hitting someone was unbearable for him.
Michikatsu was about to ask Yoriichi about his secrets, but before he could say anything Yoriichi said ". Before the attacks, their lungs heave. You just need to look closely at the disposition of his bones, the contraction of his muscles, and the flow of his blood."
