I tried, I swear I tried, but I couldn't help it.

When it was only two hours before we landed in Madrid, I dozed off. I fought my eyelids as much as I could, but I found out that this part of our body doesn't depend on us — it has its own will.

I only realized I was asleep when Jungkook and I arrived at the airport, and probably only managed to get on the train because his large, tattooed hand was attached to my arm, leading me from side to side.

It didn't seem like it, but I was really looking forward to meeting Carmona.

In fact, that anxiety had been tangled in my stomach since the moment Jungkook came to me in that snack bar on a half-hidden street in Seoul, with his cell phone in hands and eyes wide with anticipation, to show me the pictures that some friends took in that beautiful field of sunflowers.

He told me about the city in the province of Seville, in Spain, a historic place that keeps its Roman and Islamic heritage untouched.

Jungkook looked at me, and there I knew that neither of us would settle down until the tickets were in our hands. It would be a waste not to visit that beautiful place and photograph every corner of it.

Despite the agitation, we had to wait a little before we could finally pack our bags — my friend is an extreme perfectionist and, for him, everything can get a little better than it already is.

So it took him days to choose the best hostel, with the best view and the best price, and hire the best guide to do the best tour to the best places in the city so we could have the best trip of all and, most importantly, take the best photos.

It seems impossible to achieve all of this, right? I agree, but another thing about Jungkook is that he usually gets everything he wants. Or almost everything — he's not very good at Spanish, even though he studied the language for years. That meant I'd be in charge of our communication. Not that I was better than him, but I wasn't that bad, either. It was good enough for a few days trip.

When I found a magazine explaining a little bit about Spain on the plane, I decided to read it just in case. Well, if it weren't for the little boy sitting next to me, I could've learned a little more.

He was putting together a five hundred-piece puzzle on his tablet and asked me for help and I had to say yes. Who can resist a baby's bright eyes and sad face? His dad was snoring next to the window, so I kind of was his only hope.

The result is that Jihoon, who told me he was six, and I, ended up spending a lot of time playing games together. He was very smart for his age and, to my surprise, fluent in Spanish.

As I said, I ended up sleeping at some point so I couldn't even say goodbye to my little friend, and I only realized it when I felt a poke in my rib, ending my deep sleep.

When I looked at Jungkook sitting next to me on the bus we took in Seville to our destination, he just pointed at the window for me to see the beautiful landscape outside, which got me completely mesmerized when I finally turned to look.

During our research on Carmona, we read some people saying that it was possible to see the famous sunflower field on the way to the city and, despite having seen the photos posted by those travelers, seeing them with my own eyes was quite an experience.

As we are in June, they are at the height of their beauty, oozing their imposing yellow, shining almost like gold in a perfect combination with the beautiful greenish hills behind them and the clear blue sky full of fluffy white clouds. It was a sight that, as I already imagined, brought me a lot of calm.

That was when I realized that I was really in Spain and that the trip I had been waiting for was finally starting.

It made my sleep and tiredness evaporate, but another thing I saw contributed a lot to feed my expectations about my days here.

Well, not a thing, but someone.

As soon as I stepped into the hall of the hostel where we'd be staying, while we waited to check our reservation, I saw a man dressed in a very... Interesting way. It was the first thing I noticed when I looked around.

He was wearing a light yellow shirt, and sunflowers in a more intense shade of yellow were painted all over it, illuminating the whole place.

For me, in fact, the shirt was not the only thing that attracted me.

He was talking to some people and, when I heard his cheerful and eccentric laugh, I felt the urge to talk to him, or at least to be able to see his face, since the whole time he had his back to me.

As I dragged my suitcase upstairs, I started to think about how strong his presence was and whether I was the only one affected by this urge to observe him a little longer and to get to know him better. Jungkook didn't seem to notice him, he was too busy humming some random song.

Arriving at our room he started talking, but my attention was completely focused on the uncomfortable feeling that I needed to see that man again, and if I'm not asking too much, a little closer.

Apparently, I have one more reason to look forward to my next few days here.
