"Nothing remains the same for long.

We either adapt to change...

Or get left behind."

─── SLOAN LOOKED AT THE DIRTY MIRROR WITH A SMILE, CHECKING THAT HER HAIR WAS PERFECT, that she didn't have any stains on her clothes or food between her teeth.

It was an important day; the start of her life, one could say.

God, she couldn't tell if what she was feeling was excitement or terror.

Either way, it was nearly making her want to puke, though she had too much pride to look like it.

She was starting her intern residency and she'd get to walk the same halls the great had, that was the day she became a surgeon, where she could put her intelligence to good use.

Seattle Grace.

Plus, Riley couldn't wait to leave a message to her mother about what she accomplished on her first day.

That part truly excited her, but all in due time.

For now, she had to get to the hospital and smell the blood in the water, take a few bites and remind people why she had an MD at the ripe age of 20, why she had over twenty letters of recommendations, why she graduated at the top of her class and had world class surgeons vying to have her working with them.

Fuck, the reason as to why the Avery foundation had reached out to her after she chose another hospital to work at, that she'd have a spot in Boston once her residency ended.

How many people could say that?

She almost chose Hopkins, if anything mostly out of loyalty, since she had gone to Johns Hopkins University for their research labs and because their scholarship had been better than Harvard, plus, she had first planned to take her residency on the Hopkins' program, but that's besides the point.

Sloan had her reasons to choose Seattle Grace over Hopkins, despite it being ranked second.

Either way, after hearing the Chief's very inspiring speech, Sloan finally changed into the light blue scrubs, preferring to throw them over her long sleeved shirt and her leggings rather than getting on her underwear.

"Hey, Sloan Riley, right?" The blonde turned her head at the quiet greeting, tying her sneakers and smiling at the other young doctor. If Sloan recalled, the woman was only a few years older than her.
