Y/N POV:

I ended up staying in the cafe for pretty much half the day after she left, it wasn't necessarily chilly out but it wasn't hot either. It was just right for a cozy day, I ordered another coffee not long after she left as well as a blueberry muffin however the muffin was only half eaten and has now just been sitting out in front of me for god knows how long.

"Why doesn't this make any sense" I groaned and kicked my legs out a little, looking out the window with frustrated tears. I'd been working on a new assessment and the content just wasn't making sense, I couldn't get my head around certain formalities and proper resources online. Taking a moment to breathe, I took my airpods out and packed them away, gathering my stuff while saving my work on my laptop.

"You can get fucked, I'm not in the mood to argue with you today" I grumbled as I spoke to my laptop like an idiot before packing it away in my tote bag. I put the rest of the muffin in the bin with my empty cup and walked out of the cafe, kicking up the loose gravel on the sidewalk. "Why did I choose education. What a dumbass" I mumbled to myself.

I spent almost an hour just walking around the quieter streets of NYC, taking in all the auburn coloured trees along the sidewalk. Eventually I ended back at my apartment and thank god because a storm in the distance was just starting to roll over the city. "Beautiful weather for a beautiful season" I smiled lightly as I looked over before unlocking the main door to the building.

It didn't take me long to actually get inside my apartment, the empty pizza box still on the kitchen counter from too late last night and the empty coffee cup accompanying it. Yes, I studied until 2 or 3am this morning, it's not my fault I've got insomnia. "Marvel marathon and assignments time? I think so Y/N, I think so" I mumbled and fixed up another cup of coffee before getting myself situated on the couch with a plush grey throw blanket.

A deep roll of thunder echoed out across the city and I turned the volume up slightly to drown out the noise subtly. I was never a fan of the sound of storms but I absolutely loved the rain and lightning. I was in the middle of the first Wandavision episode when my phone rang out, my brows furrowing when it was a private number. "What's the harm" I hummed unsure but answered anyway.

"Y/N speaking" I asnwered unsurely and froze when a sort of familiar voioce came through. "Hey honey, I was just calling to say you've got the job. Is tonight a bad time to be introduced to the kids? I'm quite happy to push it until the end of the week if it suits better" Scarlett asked genuinely. "Oh- I- wait what just like that?"

"Just like that, we really do need someone for the kids and you seem to be the best fit so far, everyone we've dealt with is either 60 years old or too 'almond mom' on them trying to get Rose to eat 'healthy fries' which turned out to be carrot and celery sticks" She answered, giggling at the end. "I mean I'm more than happy to stop by this afternoon, although I might warn you that theres a nasty little storm rolling over so I'm not too sure if your kids might get overwhelmed with noise and new things in one go" I asnwered honestly and she let out a hearty chuckle.

"Oh sweetheart, thank you for even thinking of that but I'm sure they'll be fine, send me your address and I'll come and pick you up alright? My number is on the napkin from earlier this morning" she questioned politely and I nodded before realising she can't see me. "Yeah just- just give me a minute and I'll get ready, what do I need to bring? Anything specific, do you and your husband drink wine or some flowers for the house? I could also bring-" "Darling your rambling, you don't need to bring anything but yourself and plus, you're only 18 anyways, you wouldn't even be allowed to buy" she had a little warning edge to her tone.

"Sorry, um I'll send you the address, I'm gonna keep working on a few assessments so just text me or uhm call me when you get here?" I cringed at how clueless and awkward I sounded. "I'll let you know alright, and I promise you you're gonna be okay. We're not that scary, see you soon sweetheart" she hung up and I just stared at my phone in shock. Yeah wow okay then, I guess I'm sending her my address.

I took the small folded napkin out from my bag and took a few deep breaths before sending her a nice general text and my breathing hitched slightly when she texted back almost immediately. I sent her my address and decided turn the episode back on to kind of clear my head before she got here. I had just about finished the episode when I got another text from her saying she's parked out on the street with a little photo of what's in front of her. Oh my god here we go.

I grabbed my tote bag and slipped a water bottle and my keys in after saving my documents. As I locked up and headed out the hallway to the front door, a bold streak lightning lit up the sky making me flinch a little in surprise. Her car was easily spotted along the pathway, black with tinted windows wasn't that hard to find in a street packed with older more beaten down cars. I knocked on the window gently and heard the unlock sound before allowing myself in the passenger side. "Hi" she smiled softly, clearly sensing the nerves.

"Hi Scarlett" I spoke nervously and fiddled with my hands. "Don't be so nervous honey" she started the car and pulled out of the street, clearly taking the back streets avoiding traffic and general hot spots for these type of people. Another rumble of thunder made me flinch slightly and I hoped she didn't pick up on it. Truth be told, I was fucking terrified. I was always a wreck meeting new people and this storm isn't helping at all. Just heightens my anxiety.

"I'm not a fan of storms either" She sighed sympathetically when the sounds of thunder became more consistent. "I just don't like the noise, the rain is pretty and so are the lightning strikes, just the noise gets to me sorry" I spologies out of habit and she looked over at me briefly. "Why are you apologising? Nothing's happened love, and youre most definitely not in trouble for not liking the storm" her brows creased in the middle and I shrunk down further in my seat. I felt like I just got scolded.

"Force of habit sor-" she cut me off with a warning side eye. "Don't you dare finish that off" she warned playfully but also quite intimidatingly. I just nodded and sat on my hands, I was getting more and more fidgety and anxious the longer I spent in the car with her. "Only a couple more streets then we're here" she clarified and hummed a tune under her breath to ease the silence. God why am I so awkward. Oh god we're pulling up to a house oh my god. "We're here honey, breathe, I promise we don't bite" she reassured and put her car in park, exiting and waiting for me at my door. I guess it's show time then.
