At least I didn't meet her in a bar. It's funny how people think that I did. I hardly drink. I met her a little over a year or so ago. And, may I say, not in a bar. Monday mornings in autumn bring breezy fogs with a light shiver as soon as you step outside. It was a bright sunny day once it cleared up in the afternoon, but still chilly. I love to sleep, I really do so I don't know how to explain why I even went for a morning jog. But I'm glad I did. Leaving my doorstep, I walk off to the left and feel the air lift me up a little, teasing my braided hair. Scrolling through my music, I select a rather thumping beat as I begin my brisk jog through the park nearby my house. As I move, I'm thinking, did I turn off the stove? I'm in sterile concentration but my focus is altered from the path, down to my toes. In my peripheral vision I notice I ran past a young woman walking her dogs jamming very excitedly to her music. I slowly look up just in time to run smack into the gray pole, falling to the ground.
"Holy motherfu--".
"Oh my god! Are you okay?" The very ethusiastic dog owner approached me quickly kneeling down next to me as I held my head and tried to focus my eyesight.
"Goddammit, nice to meet you pole. Am I in your way? Jesus.." I sarcasticly muttered. A light giggle surpassed from my stranger's lips and I look up finally to see eye to eye.
"Uh..". Her light brown hair is electrified with gloden stripes and prisoned in a pony tail, allowing the morning light to illuminate her face. She had these green eyes, no, wait blue... gray? no, wait hazel... blue?...Mostly blue, yeah. They really aren't defintie, but nonetheless stunning eyes that looked at me full of concern. She had a light neon jacket on and some yoga pants matching with regular Nike running shoes but she still looked radiant.
"Hey, are you okay? It look likes you took a fall.. Stupid pole was in the way, huh?" Her soft voice found its way into my brain and gave me a startle, bringing me back to reality.
"Oh wait-what? Yeah no, I'm fine, really thank you..." I bite a little on my lip, releasing a tiny smile back at her. She grins widely, and helps me up.
"Good! Because I don't know much about heads and stuff. Or CPR..." Her eyebrows creased in worry.
"No no no, it's fine um, thank you... uh...?" I pause looking back at her as she stares blankly in return.
"Oh! Roselle, haha, it's Roselle, " her eyes light up when she introduced herself.
"Really nice to meet you Roselle, I'm Nikola. I'm glad we ran into each other. Figuratively speaking," I reply, biting my lip again. Standing, she's slightly taller but perhaps it was just my slouching position.
Roselle laughs, "Well, literally". Her dogs started to get impatient and bark at her heel.
"Oh no.. I have to get going," she tugged on their leashes to restrain them from running over other joggers.
"Oh yeah, no problem. Thank you for stopping, we should really do this again, but no collisions or mornings," I added in a serious tone. Roselle smiles and asks for a pen from a nearby elderly couple seated at a love-bench. She hurried back and grabs my hand, writing down 10 numbers.
"Won't this wash off?" I ask curiously.
Her eyes sparkle, "Then call me before it does", and with that she walked off with her dogs and her ponytail, swinging back and forth between her shoulder blades.
