NAOMI

LIFE has its own ups and downs and to be honest, a low in my life that I envisaged definitely did not have this being a part of it.

"So, you told me to stop dating him so you can snatch him from me? Ehn, Senior Naomi?" She sneers and shoots daggers my way. I know the Senior she added is just out of spite. Gosh, I was not even in love with this man, but these sexual urges. They are the ones that put me in trouble. Plus the fact that the man is actually an attractive one, no matter how much I try to quieten the urges that built in me whenever I gaze at him.

"I can explain." She glares at me as if waiting to hear whatever flimsy excuse I had to offer.

"You disgust me, for real. A one month relationship, yet you found a way to ruin it for me." I won't lie, he was the best sex I have had.

"I am sorry, Olly." I apologize.

"Don't Olly me. Your apology means nothing. Naomi, you see that big girl status that you have in this Lagos, I will ruin it for you. I don't care how much money your family has. I will spread your gist to the bloggers! Instablog, gistlover, gossipmill, rant n gist, they will all carry your gist! You have not seen anything!" Is this one mad?

"Olivia Peterson, don't forget who I am. I apologize for what happened between me and Joseph, but what I will not have is you coming here to issue threats at me. Have you forgotten who gave you the life you have? Think of how far I can go. The worse you can do is pay these bloggers. They will insult me and call me names, but the gist will fade off. In one week or two, someone else's story will pop up and the circle continues. Don't piss me off!" I warn her.

"You are still threatening me. On top the fact that you went and shamelessly opened your legs for my man." She shoots glares at me, aggressively pointing a finger in my direction.

"Point of correction, young lady, he seized to be your man when you broke up with him."

"A break-up that was influenced by you, the devil!" This one has gone nuts. Admitted, I'm not proud of what I did, but for a poor rat like that, she should be glad I saved her from a life of eternal wretchedness.

"Look, ehn, don't bite more than you can chew."

"No wonder Ade left you. You are such a shameless whore." She spits back. Ouch, that hurts. Ade is a tale of 5 years ago. My parents, my dad especially, influenced him leaving.

"Don't you dare!" I won't lie, I messed up.

"Because your father is rich, I don't blame you. I hate you, Naomi!" She hisses and walks out of the office, banging my door loudly. Olivia wouldn't dare go to the blogs. For one, she loves this life she has too much to throw it away for a man. Secondly, she knows she won't get a job elsewhere if she does. The whole thing is just all talk and no action. Interested in how I am met with this particular low? Let's go down memory lane a little.

Exactly 1 month, 3 weeks ago. ~~

It was the eve of Linda's birthday. Linda happens to be my best friend. We have been friends since our diaper days. More than anyone, she knows me the most. We have always rolled in the same circle since we were babies. Our parents are rich rich and also business associates. According to my mom, we became friends even before we could even talk. Honestly, I don't have any remembrance of a day in my life where I have not known her.

"My darling babe, happy birthday!" She smiles from ear to ear as I present the diamond stud earrings and necklace set I got for her. She also loved leg chains so I got one for her too.

"My love, you know what they say. A girl's best friend is diamonds." She excitedly speaks.

"Ode. I'm your best friend, you know." She scoffs and playfully sticks out her tongue in my direction.

"You just got your own replacement with your money." She shrugs and I laugh.

"You are not serious." I respond.

"Did you give him my invite?" By him, she's referring to Nathan, my twin brother. This girl has been nursing a crush on him since she knew the meaning of crush. The man simply does not reciprocate it.

"You know how he is. I am sorry, babe." She has a sad expression before her face goes back to normal.

"Okay. Thanks for trying." She smiles, it doesn't reach her eyes.

"Babe, don't beat yourself over it. Honestly, a good man would be lucky to have you."

"I know, but the good man that I want does not want me, unfortunately."

"You know what? Let loose tonight. I know clubs are not the best places to meet people, but who knows? You might meet someone good tonight. Just cheer up, babes." I honestly wished he could just see her for once. The annoying brother of mine even jokes about how my friends have a crush on him.

"Okay." She finishes with her make up. Olivia walks in. Olly is my school daughter from secondary school. She also works for me in the Quality Control department of my company.

"Hey, mamas." We exchange air kisses and laugh. Our other friends come in one by one and we exchange pleasantries and what nots. The ones with gifts present it to her. Linda, sweet soul, expresses her gratitude.

After instructing her help to take the items upstairs to her room, she puts on the pieces I get for her and we all leave the house. While Linda had a thing for leg chains, waist beads; ileke-idi as they are popular known in this part of the country, are my favorites. I have five different designs on my waist and I don't mind adding an extra one or two. Two diamonds, one ruby, one pearl and the last one is a blend of hessonite and emerald, all custom made. They never leave my waist.

Anyways, we leave the house and head to the club. I already ensured Paxton reserved the VVIP segment of the club for us for tonight. Paxton is my business partner. He owns the club; one of his other ventures.

"You say we should have fun and you're taking us to VVIP. How then do we have fun if we can't mix with people?" Olly asks and I roll my eyes.

"Girl, VVIP is for the elite. We are elite."

"I concur with her, though. I want to let loose." This was Linda speaking. Normally, she won't object to VVIP, but it seems Nathan's constant rejection must have hit her badly. I sigh.

"In fact, I don't want to go to that club today. What if he's there?" She whispers the last part in my ears. I sigh. Well, there goes my reservation.

"Alright, you're the birthday girl. You call the shots. Where do you want to go?" She gives it a thought for a while before texting the other ladies about the change of plans. They are in another car.

Together, we drive to the place of my doom.
