it was Amaya's birthday and everybody was at their house
"A.J come here" maya said from the kitchen
"man what you want i was bout get $50"
"nigga we both know yo ass was about to lose that speed game"
"but guess what"
"chicken butt"
"no, my dad is coming" maya said smiling
"oh." A.J said taking a sip of his koolaid
"what?"
"nothing"
"A.J."
"just don't get your hopes up"
"what's that supposed to mean" maya said sounding mad
"don't get defensive i'm just saying"
"why wouldn't he come"
"because he hasn't been here in years"
"why would he show up now"
"because he promised"
"ok."
"what makes you so sure he's not coming?"
"i'm not, i'm jus-"
"your just saying, i heard you" she said with an attitude
"aight, don't get mad when i'm right"
it was 2 hours later and everyone was in the living room
maya kept checking her phone constantly
"you got a package coming" zoey said looking up from her cards
"not particularly" maya said turning her phone off
4 hours later mostly everyone was gone and it was just A.J and maya's mom and zoey and nia's mom (and them 4 ofc)
they were in the family room watching a movie but maya was still in the living room
A.J came in and sat next to her
"you wanna come watch the movie?"
"it's called pets secret life or some shit"
"nah i'm still waiting for my dad"
"maya-"
"he's coming" she said cutting him off
A.J woke up to the movie over and everybody sleep
he went to make a cup a water when he saw nia in the living room
"don't tell me yo ass actually slept in here" he said chuckling
