"Sophie! Sophie!" The world was swimming before her eyes. She could hear a jumble of voices. She tried to call for help but only a strangled squeak came out. Heads turned towards her and Sophie felt herself being enveloped in a warm strong embrace.
"Sophie!"
"Thank goodness!"
"She's awake!"
Sophie sat up and stared around groggily. "Mum, Dad?"
"So, you're all set kiddo!" Sophie's adoptive father Grady as they walked out of the hospital for the first time in months. Sophie squinted at the car park and saw Edaline waving at her and grinning broadly. Sophie ran down the steps to meet her but as she was she overbalanced and fell onto Edaline. Grady laughed as he pulled them up, "Well epilepsy certainly hasn't changed your clumsiness." Everyone fell silent. The word hung over them, like a storm cloud, about to explode. Grady cleared his throat "Well, we better head home, The bolognese is in the oven!" And with that that the silence was broken and the family headed off home.
