Strange was laying in her bed, staring at the ceiling. She knew she'd have to get up and go to school soon. She'd have to walk such a long way. Her dad said she can borrow his car, but she was too scared to tell him she's gay, and therefore can't drive.
Only thing she looked forward to in the mornings was breakfast, but her dad would only spend his money on crypto, so all she found in the fridge to eat last night was a dry lasagna. Strange doubted she could find any Count Chocula cereal for breakfast. She sighed, knowing she'd have to buy breakfast on the way.
The school building was less than impressive. Strange quickly finished the last bits of her breakfast creepy pasta salad (she didn't know why, but the tall, slender diner owner insisted that it's a creepy pasta) and walked into the front door, with a big plain cross above it. She certainly wasn't looking forward to the promised Bible reading class.
"Hey!" suddenly a voice and a pair of hands on her shoulders stopped Strange on her way, "you must be Weird! I'm Gigi, the creative writing club president," the girl offered up her hand.
"It's Strange," Strange growled as she shook Gigi's hand.
"Oh, I apologize. Actually," the girl leaned to whisper into Strange's ear, "Gigi is short for Girl Gruel. But they don't like to call me that over here. They already hate me for being, you know..." Girl Gruel pointed down to her ripped fishnets and platform combat boots with pictures of Gerard Way everywhere on them, hiding under her uniform skirt.
"I know," Strange nodded seriously, and pulled her pentagram necklace out of her collar discreetly.
"Come with me then, you'll love my brother," Girl Gruel grabbed Strange's hand and dragged her to the worshiping class.
