Bruce lee is a critically acclimated asian actor born in San Francisco, California, while the city of Hong Kong dedicates a statue in honor of what he has done for the culture of martial arts and self improvement. Rightfully so, I would say he is one of my biggest inspirations. With a respected and admired career that enabled him to make it into hollywood, his career was established in Hong Kong and United States. He is known as the founder of Jeet Kune Do, a philosophical movement that emphasises hybridity in different diverse combat disciplines pioneering the way for modern mixed martial arts. He is well known for his most popular movies such as the "fist of fury" and "enter the dragon". My favourite quote from Bruce Lee would most definitely be "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. ...". This is the very mentality that propelled Stephen Wardell Curry into godly stardom from a three star skinny recruit out of Charlotte, North Carolina to Davidson college and finally making it into the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association and building a championship caliber dynasty. His game looks so effortless and simple because he keeps his practice simple. He only practices catch and shoot 3 point shots from each spot of the court and like Bruce Lee preaches he replicates that one shot 10,000 times. Now that is the true defintion of mastery and perfecting your craft. The moral of this philosophical ranting would come down to this simple conclusion ladies and gentlemen: Treat every practice like a game, and every game like a practice

The title of this short piece is called "You are NOT your mind". The reason being is that we often associate our identity with our emotions. While this can be a great source of encouragement through positive affirmations, it can also bring unnecessary drama.

Here are a few pertinent points to note when you recognise your mind playing games with you next time...

1. Anger from urgency can translate to "I want it now!" energy. This could be a primary source of motivation due to desperation for success.

2. You are NOT your thoughts. Some of the thoughts you think are not true.

3. Play music such as soul, jazz or spirtually religious music such as gospel to deal with strong intense emotions to allow for positive manifestation.

To expand upon the notion of "You are NOT your mind" we need to explain why this is the case. Here is a run down of the whole process starting from the mind.

Mind wants to solve problems and find solutions immeditately as soon as possible --> The mind starts contemplating on current and past relationships with other human beings --> It gets frustrated if the mind can not control the situation becuase the other person you are thinking in that moment is obvsiouly not static --> A strong feeling of regret and shame exudes as you feel like you could of handled the situation a lot better --> Therefore, as an observing self, notice your toxic self-talk and do something more productivte to distract yourself or get busy (i.e. go to the gym, or get a job to pay the bills)

In summary, you need to be zen and calm your mind by taking each moment day by day. Don't worry about tomorrow, only focus on the present moment. Enjoy the precious time you have in this moment with the people in front of you today!

Here is my favourite bible verse regarding this theme about time from Matthew 6:25-34 NIV.

Do Not Worry

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[]?

28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

In Jesus name, amen.
