Dottie entered Samuel's room, observing her older son who was sleeping soundly, a smile gracing her lips. She cherished her sons deeply, often wondering what she and Bob had done to earn such blessings. "Samuel seems to be smiling a lot more these days," Bob noted, joining his wife with a smile. "Indeed, he is," Dottie agreed, returning the smile. Together, they exited the room, gently closing the door behind them. As Samuel hugged his pillow in peaceful slumber, his bedroom window creaked open, admitting a cool breeze. Gregory, the vampire, silently flew in and gazed at Samuel, whispering, "Psst," in an effort not to startle him awake.Stirring slightly, Samuel's eyes fluttered open. "Gregory? What brings you here? Shouldn't you be in the basement with your kind?" he inquired, sitting up and stifling a yawn. "Fancy a flight?" Gregory offered, a smirk playing on his lips.
Samuel hesitated, then slowly nodded. Gregory grasped his hand, leading him to the window. "You do realize, if that hunter catches us, he'll likely follow," Samuel began, only for Gregory to silence him with a finger to his lips, eliciting a blush from Samuel. "Worry too much, do you, mortal?" Gregory teased. With a smirk, Samuel retorted, "Perhaps I do." Gregory then levitated, Samuel's feet leaving the ground. "Ready to soar?" Gregory inquired, earning a nervous yet excited nod from Samuel. "You better not let go," Samuel warned, gripping Gregory's hand. "Now, why would I?" Gregory chuckled, exchanging a knowing look with Samuel before they took off into the night.
As they hovered a mere few inches above the ground, Gregory reassured, "We're not that high up." Samuel with his eyes tightly shut, gradually relaxed his grip. "Fear not, mortal. I'd never harm you... especially not someone as captivating as you," Gregory whispered, causing Samuel to open his eyes and laugh off the compliment. Now airborne, Samuel marveled at the night sky, the moon and stars casting a serene glow. "This is incredible," he breathed, his awe mirrored by Gregory's soft smile. "I knew you'd enjoy it," Gregory responded.
They landed atop a gas station, where Gregory hinted at sharing a thrilling adventure. Intrigued, Samuel asked, "What kind of fun?" Gregory's smirk revealed his fangs in the moonlight. "The kind that chills a mortal's blood," he quipped.
As they prepared for their mischief, Samuel pondered the consequences. "Think you'll get in trouble for this?" Gregory dismissed the concern with a glance at the stars, cherishing the freedom they seldom experienced. "
Their conversation was cut short by the arrival of a man and his dog, quickly followed by the ominous appearance of Rookery. Samuel's attempt to warn Gregory was in vain; the vampire was caught off guard, his skin burning under a bright light. "GREGORY!" Samuel cried out, he immediately hopped off the roof and rushing to his side. In that critical moment, Rudolph swooped down out of nowhere and came to the rescue. Gregory weakly looked up at him and spoke, "What are you doing here?"
Rudolph looked at him as he put his arm around him and held Samuel's hand as he took off. "I followed you both and I thought you were heading for trouble, I can see that I was right." The little brother said. "You little idiot..." Gregory sighed as he looked at the ground in extreme pain.
"What do we do?" Samuel asked, looking at the two vampires with a look of worry. "What if Rookery is follows us and knows your family's hiding place?" Rudolph turned his head and looked at the emo boy "Samuel's right. We need to find out before we can head back home." Rudolph sighed "It's almost sunrise.."
Gregory deeply sighed as he can feel the stinging pain from the bright light and can already hear his father's nagging voice yelling at him for what he has done. Samuel couldn't help but to feel bad for him. He wished he could've done something more to prevent what had happened.
WOO! Finally finished with this chapter. I'm sorry for the long wait as I had a long college semester, but I'm glad I didn't abandon this fanfic❤️
