There you were. Looking out the window. Sitting in an empty cabine of the train. Your destination? Hogwarts. It's your seventh year and you already turned 18. Finally. Now you can do a lot more things than before. Without consequences. You are a person who tends to break the rules and trigger people with your unpredictability. You are a Gryffindor after all.
As you sit alone on the smooth seats of the silent cabine something disturbing catches your attention and breaks the peaceful soundwave. Your best friend appears in your cabine. It's Paul, Ravenclaw. Very polite and a smart young man with a tendency of overprotection. At least towards you. But it's good. He helped you out way too often if you took your curiosity too far.
As he comes in a bright smile appears on his face and also yours. You two haven't seen each other the whole summer. There's a lot you two have to talk about. When he spreads his arms to hug you, you do the same and smile brightly.
"It's been a while, how are you doing y/n? How's your summer been?" he asks excited as he puts his bag on the shelves and sits towards you. You think about this question for a while. You must admit there wasn't much going on during your vacation. You've been mostly at home and read books or wrote your own story's in your diary about the world of magic. Since your parents are very average muggles you don't know much spectacular places or activities wizards or witches do, except for the ones you learned in Hogwarts. And since Paul is the only friend you hang around a lot you simply couldn't know that much about the Wizarding world like the others. It's not like you don't have any friends, you are pretty liked and get along with anyone, even older grades. But you don't feel connected with them and don't feel like hanging out with them. You are simply not interested in small talk.
"Oh, you know I was mostly at home, doing my studies. I took care of my cats and...read some books. Nothing special" you say with a calm voice. Paul chuckles. "I expected to hear that from you. But I must admit that's how I spent my holidays too. Except for one trip to Greek with my parents. I found a lot of antique books, even with blank pages. I got you one too". Your eyes lifted as he talked about those antique books. If there was one thing you always wanted to have in your book collection it were antique notebooks. Paul pulled out a small sized book with black leather and golden edges and holds it towards you. "Wow Paul, thank you! It's awesome", you say excited as his smile turns bigger. You pack it into your bag while you grin in a happy way. 'What could I use it for? Studies? A novel? A Diary?'After a long time you arrive at Hogwarts. The sky already turned into a deep shade of black while the stars illuminate your way to the huge impressive stoned building. After both you left your luggage in the corridors you enter the hallway which is already filled with a massive amount of students including new young faces. And excluding the oldest ones which graduated last year. You must admit you miss some of them already. There weren't many friends in your grade but you made friends with a lot students older than you. That's why you were aware of many secret rumors, stories and love interests that were going on in this grades.
And since you are considered a pretty smart student many came to you to get some secret information. And you exchanged it for things you wanted to get. Kinda manipulative, right? But that was one of your shadows. Sometimes you asked yourself if you were sorted into the wrong house...Paul and you sit in the center of your Gryffindor table where you meet more of your friends. Loud chatting fills the huge hall which is decorated for the occasion of new students and the fresh start for a new year at Hogwarts. Even though you usually don't talk that much you were happy about those students talking to you. Asking questions. Showing interest towards you. Or were they just being nice to you to squeeze useful information out of you? They wouldn't, would they? As your thoughts drift into a dark place you shake your head and just keep answering your friend's questions. Also Paul integrates into their conversation and shares interesting storys he didn't tell you yet about his trip. While one ear is listening to him your eyes wander around the hall to the professors table which was full of faces you knew and also you didn't know. As your eyes run over every face and try to scan them a loud old and deep voice catches your attention and takes your eyes with it before you could look at every face sitting there. It's professor Dippet, the headmaster of Hogwarts who asks his audience for attention. As everyone pays full attention to him he welcomes every student with a calm and stable voice and initiates a speech to introduce new professors for this year. "Welcome to Hogwarts my dear students. I hope you had a good trip to this place of magic. Before we will start the sorting ceremony I have a few announcements to make. It is a great pleasure for me to inform you that we now have some new members in the teaching staff, including extremely talented individuals", he says clearly and even with a hint of amusement. As he counts a few names and describes their new positions you barely listen. But one name catches your attention. And you get the feeling that you are not the only one having mixed feelings about this information. "And last but not least I am flattered to introduce you our youngest member and your new professor for defence against dark arts, Professor Riddle."
The moment you heard HIS name you nearly spit out the water which you drank before. Your new professor was HIM? Tom Riddle?! Why was he so committed towards Hogwarts? Not only was he the only student with the best grades and probably the most talented who ever existed but he was also the prefect and the head student for many years before he graduated 3 years ago. Nearly all students adored and respected him. Some of them even feared him. He was that kind of student who was most spoken about. Good and bad things. There were a lot of rumors about him.
That's why you were amazed and freaked out by him at the same time and didn't dare coming close to him when he was a students at Hogwarts, even though you had a lot of chances to do that. Even if he was a role model for a perfect student and very popular, especially in girl chatting... You avoided him as far as possible. Probably because you feared him more than you wanted to get him to know personally, right? But actually you met sometimes. And talked with him. When he was tutoring you in your 4th grade. He's was a very good teacher if you think about it. He made you understand your homework in just about 5 minutes but still you didn't dare visiting his extra lessons again. He gave you goosebumps. Especially when he looked deeply into your eyes as you tried focusing on his words which was pretty hard by his charismatic behavior. You knew you had no chance since to get to know him personally since he didn't seem interested in anyone. At least that's what the girls at his grade were saying.
As you lift up your eyes and look at the part of the professors table which you didn't explore yet, you see HIM. Sitting there with the same position he always did. Keeping his cold face expression as always when Professor Dippet tells his name and the audience of students becomes very quiet instantly. Most of them knew Tom Riddle because of the reasons I mentioned before. Not that it's your business but you asked yourself why would an intelligent and gifted student like him attend for a job like a teacher? Not that it's an unworthy thing to do but someone like him had very good chances for higher positions and jobs. For a while you keep watching him as you try to understand his reasons and scan his handsome face. As if he noticed your gaze he turns his eyes directly to yours as he nibs on his glass in a seductive way. You swallow and turn your face away immediately. His gaze still gives you goosebumps and you can feel his gaze laying on you. He's so petrifying...and exceptional...
