Dear Mama and Papa,

I am sorry I got lost in the tomb. I was playing with my friends and we saw a big hole in the ground. We wanted to see what was inside, so we climbed down. But then we heard a loud noise and the hole closed behind us. We tried to find another way out, but we got separated. I don't know where they are. I hope they are okay.

I am very scared, Mama and Papa. It is dark and cold and there are strange noises. I saw some bones and skulls and spiders. I think there are monsters here. I don't want to be here. I want to go home.

But I am trying to be brave for you. I remember what you told me. You said that gnomes are smart and curious and adventurous. You said that we can do anything if we use our brains and our hearts. You said that you love me very much and that you are always proud of me.

So I am not giving up, Mama and Papa. I am looking for a way out. I found this paper and this pen in a chest. Maybe someone else was here before. Maybe they escaped. Maybe I can too.

I am writing this letter to you, just in case though, like Mama always said I should if I was lost alone. I want you to know that I love you very much and that I miss you. I want you to know that I am thinking of you and that I am doing my best. I want you to know that even though I am scared, I am being brave for you.

Please don't be sad, Mama and Papa. Please don't be angry. Please don't forget me. Please find me.

Your son,
