You dash back to her bedroom, collapsing to your knees, breathing heavily. "Abby!?" You cry out in a voice full of concern and panic.

Just then, a small head of brown curls peaks out of a little fort in the corner of her room, "Y/n?" She replys in a apprehensive tone. You are instantly relieved, and let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding, "Oh god, you scared me! I thought I somehow lost you on the first day of the job." Your breathing starts to slow to a regular pace, "And it's bedtime by the way, missy" Abby groans hearing this; She walks to the bathroom to brush her teeth, taking droopy steps.

You sit down on the couch and wait to tuck her in; You pull your stuffie out of bag for a moment, quickly tucking it back in as Abby comes out in her pjs, ready to be tucked in. You follow Abby to her room and pull thr blanket over her, "Wait, can you pin our new drawings up on the corkboard before I go to sleep? That way I'll dream about them." Abby requests and you oblige, pinning up the pages before going back to the couch.

After 2 hours, it's now 1am and you had just completed your work for the night and studied for a test you had the following day- well, technically today. You lay across the couch, listening to a playlist while slowly drifting off.

You were a little cold, but you didn't want to snoop around for a blanket or accidently wake Abby up, who had been up previously for a glass of milk to help her sleep. You decided to get one aswell and oh boy it was working or your work just bored the living shit out of you.

You jump awake to the sound of a car door slamming shut outside, being the light sleeper you are. You check your phone to see that it is 6:12am, meaning the car door was Mike getting home from his night shift.

You didn't want him to feel bad for waking you up so, you pretend to be asleep. The door opens, and sleep deprived Mike attempts to quietly walk inside. His footsteps stop in front of you- did he know you were awake? Then the footsteps continue away from you, whew!

Just as you were about to open your eyes, you hear his footsteps getting louder, he was walking towards you again which meant he definitely knew.

To your suprise, Mike had placed a blanket over you before walking back to his room. The new found warmth (and the slight smell of Mike) from the blanket made you quickly dose off again.
