“Hello, you must be Kiara,” A woman in her early 30s shook my hand, “I’m Ms. Tegwell, but you can call me Stacie,”
“It’s nice to meet you,” I said. She chuckled, “Soon, I’ll have you saying that without your accent,” I smiled and she had me sit across from her. Cody was sitting in the seat next to me. He glanced over at me and I ignored him, listening to Stacie.
“Try to say anything without your accent. Anything. Do your best American accent,”
I thought for a moment and said in my best America accent, “Let’s go eat a cheeseburger,” “Excellent! That’s a great start,”
“Oh my gosh, let’s go shopping at the mall,” Cody said in a California accent. I had to stifle my laughter.
“That’s a good start, Cody! We don’t want a California accent, though. Your characters live on the East Coast in Maine,” “So we want Maine accents?” I asked. “No, we just want American ones for you two,”
We started doing vocal exercises and I could sense Cody checking me out. I whipped my head to the side and he looked away. I rolled my eyes and continued doing what Stacie said. This was going to be a long lesson.
The first read through started at noon so I made sure to be there at 11:45. I sipped some chocolate milk as everyone else started to drift in. Cody sat down next to me as that was where his name card was placed.
I sat next to the girl who would play my character’s neighbor, Nora. Her name was Kelly and she was really nice. She had actually been at the Drew and Holly auditions. I greeted all of the actors and we waited for Kevin so we could start.
Kevin came and we started the read through. It took two hours and it was actually really fun. I just read and didn’t think about Cody. I only thought about staying in character.
After the read through, I left with Kelly to get some coffee before Cody could try to talk to me. I didn’t want to talk to that jerk unless it was business related. Kelly and I talked for a half hour until we had to go our separate ways.
I had a photo shoot for my new ballet that was next week. It was a newer ballet with a more contemporary composer. I was quickly put into a robe and sent to hair and makeup. I got a text from Alli.
“Hey! What time is your ballet at?” She said.
I texted back, “7:30, what day are you coming?”
“Opening night :)”
“Yay!” I texted back, “Gym tomorrow morning?”
“Sure! I’ll pick you up at 8!”
“Sounds great! I have my photoshoot then I’ll come over for a bit!”
“Sounds good! Have fun! Smile big! :)”
“Love you!” I texted back and turned on the speaker in the dressing room. Tammy, my hairstylist, plugged in my phone and put it on shuffle. Maroon 5 came on as we sang along and she finished my hair. She put my head piece in and I was sent to the makeup woman Leah.
She finished it quickly and I put on my pointe shoes. I stretched and warmed up my feet until we were ready to start. I did a few different ballet poses and then I was whisked away to put on another costume.
“I’m homeeee!” I yelled as I came through Alli’s front door. I shut the door behind me and slipped off my flip flops. I went through the foyer and came face to face with a shirtless Cody Simpson. I froze.
“Hey,” He said with a small smile. I stepped around him quickly and jogged up the stairs, not looking back.
“Alli!!” I said as I pushed open her door. She was lying on the floor, surrounded by clothes. “What happened?”
“You know the new hot neighbor I have?” “Yeah, Justin?”
“Yeah, well....HE ASKED ME OUT!” She jumped up and down. “OH MY GOD!” I hugged her.
“Yeah! But I have absolutely NOTHING to wear. NOTHING,” She laid back down on her pile of clothes.
“Are you kidding?! Look at all of this! There has to be SOMETHING you can wear!” “Ugh,” She faceplanted into a pile of skirts.
“Well, where’s the date to? And when?”
“Tomorrow and we’re going to get fro-yo,”
“How about...” I walked over to a pile of shorts and searched through them. I found a pair of distressed jean shorts.
“These,” I threw them at her. Then I found a denim button up and a white tank top with a dream catcher on it. Then i picked up her olive green TOMS.
“There,” I handed everything to her.
“Oh my God! This is so cute! Thanks babe!” She hugged me.
“You’re welcome! He’s going to love you in that!”
“I hope so!” She said. We started putting her clothes away and she said, “How was your read through?”
“It was okay, just awkward with Cody,” “Why was it awkward?”
“Did he not tell you?”
“No... and neither did you...”
“Oh...well, we had a fight at Panera last week and he’s been trying to flirt with me,”
“Oh..what was your fight about?” I told her about how he hasn’t changed and how he only thinks about himself.
“He still loves you, Ki. He really does. He just doesn’t realize that he needs to change if he wants a chance,” She said.
“He does?” I felt my heart flutter. No, that was bad. I can not be happy about this.
“Do you still love him?” She said.
I sat there for a moment.
“I...I think I might,” I took a deep breath, “And I don’t know how to stop...”
So I updateddddd! But this is not a very good chappie at allll.... :/
I'm sorry! I wrote it really fast! I'll write a longer chapter next time!!
