The streets were barren, wet, and overall gloomy. The streetlights occasionally flickering on and off as your footsteps echoed through the still sidewalk.
Maybe a stray cat or street rat passing bye, but as for now, it was just you. Or so you had hoped. The walk home was always nerve-wracking to you as you'd grown up a coward.

You cleared your throat, using your balled fist to prevent germs from spreading - even if you were outside. As you continue your venture, you heard what sounded like muffled cries. You stopped and listened. Nothing. Another minute passes, and still nothing.
You go to further your walk home, only to hear the sound of a blade hitting the ground. Your footsteps died down once more. Your heart was pounding in your chest, your breathing ragged.

Great, you think. Just great, just what I needed. A maybe...potential crime scene just a few feet ahead. Perhaps I should turn around and continue the long way instead? That would be a smart move...because in horror movies, the characters don't do such things.
Your mind was everywhere, from here, to there. As you pondered your options, you heard soft footsteps approaching. Involuntarily, you flinch - your eyes growing wide as you realize whoever just committed such a horrendous act - was surely coming your way.

You shake your head, clearing your worrisome thoughs. Acting quickly, but as quietly as you could, you hid behind a parked car that was green in colour. Rust outlined the hood and the doors.

Author's Note: I know I haven't posted in almost...2 years now? For that, I apologize. This series will be updated. No more deleting stories out of fear, anxiety, etc. I've been working on my social anxiety problems, and so far - they've dissipated.
As for the song choice? It has nothing to do with the story, I just needed to listen to something as I wrote.
