prologue

Have you ever thought about how glad you were to be born when you were? I mean think about it. I'm sure there are people who are glad to be born after all the major wars are over. Some people are glad to be born after certain inventions are made and spread throughout the population. I'm pretty sure I am in this category. Then there are the people glad to be born after the evolution of humanity.

In case you don't remember around the start of the 21st century a child was born. He was crying like any other normal child and had all the right parts that made him human. Well except for one special exception: he was glowing.

This wasn't that glowing with happiness that people used as an expression, he was literally glowing. When examined scientists found that everything about him was normal compared to other humans but there was something about his skin causing light to reflect brightly. They found out later that he wasn't reflecting light but creating his own light even when in a pitch-black room.

The world went crazy over this. The miracle child (he has an actual name but I forget it) was born in China but was affecting the whole world. Many raced to its birthplace believing it was the rebirth of Jesus or something. Others feared this child and wanted it closely watched and locked up. For a while, relations were pretty tense between nations as many questioned if China was experimenting with pre-born children by changing their DNA so that they were born special. So imagine when another child was born this time instead of light it would mute the whole room when it was crying. I think it was in France about a month or two after the first child's birth.

Yeah, people freaked out. That first child practically led the chain reaction of super babies being born with powers. Oh, that's right because calling these abilities powers seemed kind of threatening to say these abilities are instead called quirks. These quirks caused the world to change in an insane way.

As you can imagine many countries started to develop laws to try and control these newborns. Some even made facilities to put the children in and watch them grow. Of course, not many people were fans of how these children were being planned to be taken care of and argued against these ideas. The US almost came to a second civil war about deciding how to treat these children: as humans or property. Many argued they were no longer human, instead becoming freaks that would be dangerous to the average person unless trained and controlled. Most argued the opposite, saying these are people born from mothers and fathers who deserve our love and protection. Thankfully the tension broke down with time but there are still plenty of people who fear and hate quirks.

Speaking of quirks there is a general of 3 types that you would get.

The first is self-morphing. For this example, I use super strength or the ability to change your biology to change your size to either be as big as a building or shrink down. Controlled change.

The next type is outward control, being able to control things that aren't yours. Examples are when you touch something you slow it down or elemental control.

The last is forced biology when your quirk causes a change in your appearance and how your body works. Some people will have animal body parts or extra limbs. A less extreme is having some lizard regeneration because you have some lizard DNA.

Oh, I should warn you these are my own name for these things. the correct titles for these are Emitters, Mutation, and Transormation.

So let's skip ahead to when these special kids are all grown up. Some ignored their quirks and tried to have a normal life, while some with more powerful quirks decided to use their quirks in a more social way. Of course, some became criminals by either cheating or robbing but those people aren't who I'm focused on right now. The ones I'm focusing on are those called heroes. These people use their quirks to help protect citizens and their home countries.
