"Godzilla, get up!" Anguirus' shouting voice was the first thing Godzilla heard as he woke up. A few minutes after Mothra fell asleep, he brought her back to her own tent before going back to his hammock. He slept for a little while, but he had only managed to get a few hours of sleep before Anguirus woke him up.
"What is it?" Godzilla asked, yawning and rubbing his eyes. "Are you having nightmares too now?"
"Wait, what? No." Anguirus answered, with a confused look on his face. "Look, we need your help. We have a bit of a bit of a problem."
Godzilla sat up. "What kind of problem?" He asked.
"A Ghidorah kind of problem." Anguirus responded.

Indeed, Ghidorah was standing in the middle of the grassy field area near the centre of Monster Island. Behind him were Gigan, Hedorah, Biolante, and Destroyah, his main and most trusted allies. All of them looked a little different from before. Gigan looked a little more like his upgraded form, with a new black and red trench coat and a fancier pair of sunglasses. Hedorah's yellow goggles were now separate from the gas mask covering only his mouth, and he had a new hoodie, without any rips or stains. Biolante had her hair done up in a long braid, with a red rose behind one ear, and a new darker green dress with a red wrap around one arm. On her other arm lay a curly henna tattoo that went from her wrist to her shoulder. Destroyah still looked pretty much the same, but now his cape was gone and he had white spikes on some of his armour. Ghidorah had longer horns on his mask, and bladed gauntlets and a slightly shinier armour texture. Soon enough, Godzilla, Rodan, Anguirus, and Mothra saw them and ran over, with their weapons ready to attack.
"Hello again, Godzilla." Ghidorah stated plainly. There was little to no malicious intent in his voice. Godzilla didn't greet him politely.
"You're looking a bit less dead." Godzilla responded. Ghidorah chuckled at the remark.
"I could say the same for your hammer-wielding comrade." He said, looking at Anguirus, who simply scoffed. Ghidorah returned his gaze to Godzilla.
"You can put away your weapons, by the way." He assured. "I am not here to fight you."
Godzilla raised an eyebrow and lowered his sword. "What?"
"And I can assure you I did not bring my swords." Ghidorah continued. He held his hands up and spun them around once or twice, showing that he had nothing in them.
"If you're not here to fight, what are you here for?" Rodan asked.
Ghidorah paused for a moment. Finally, after a few seconds, he spoke. "I am here to request a temporary partnership."
Those were not the words any of them were expecting to hear, especially Godzilla. Ghidorah saw the confusion in their eyes.
"Believe me, those words sound as strange to me as I'm sure they do to you." He said. Godzilla was the first to speak.
"Why should we partner up with you?" He said. He put his sword away, now sure he didn't need it. He looked at the others and nodded, advising them to do the same.
"An old enemy of ours is returning." Ghidorah stated. He turned to Gigan. "I believe you are familiar with him as well, Gigan?"
"Yeah, technically." Gigan responded. "I mean, I was brainwashed at the time. A lot of us were."
The hints were enough for Godzilla to make a good guess.
"Wait...you don't mean X, do you?" He asked.
"Indeed I do." Ghidorah answered darkly.
The memories came back to them at once. X, or Monster X as he was called in the media, was an alien warlord from Ghidorah's home planet. He brainwashed several Kaiju, good and evil, for a small personal army. Godzilla and the other un-brainwashed Kaiju formed their own army to defeat X. In the final battle between Godzilla and X, he unveiled his true form, Kaiser Ghidorah. Just as it seemed like Godzilla had lost, he was shot with a beam of Super Energy from the flying battleship Gotengo, and became SuperGodzilla. He easily managed to defeat Kaiser in this ultimate form. But now X was returning. Godzilla still didn't quite understand the need for a partnership, especially with Ghidorah.
"So what? I'll just defeat him again, right?" He said.
"Not quite." Ghidorah said. "X knows how you defeated him last time, and he has most likely enhanced himself accordingly. You will not be able to defeat him this time, at least not alone."
Godzilla and the others pondered over this for a moment. A thought crossed Godzilla's mind, and he voiced his concern.
"How do we know this isn't some sort of trap?" He asked.
Ghidorah sighed. "I was afraid I'd have to do this." He grabbed both his helmet and lifted it off his head. Dark brown hair billowed out. A scar lay across his face, ending just below his ear. His eyes had piercing green irises. Everyone, including his own army was astounded. None of them had ever seen his face before. After a while, he placed his helmet back on.
"So, do we have a deal?" Ghidorah asked. He thrust a hand out at Godzilla.
"If it makes you take off your helmet, it's gotta be serious." He answered. "Sure, deal. For now at least."
"Of course." Ghidorah responded. The two shook hands, forming their uneasy alliance.
