Suddenly waking up from the uncomfortable position you were in, you groan in pain, moving around in an attempt to crack your neck for some relief. You noticed that there was no sunlight coming in from the windows anymore, indicating that it was night. You quickly tap your pockets, trying to pinpoint where your phone was , clumsily pulling it out and quickly turning it on to check the time.

10:54 pm

'what the fuck.' You think to yourself as you look around the library, searching for the people that were once seated at the tables that were now, indeed, empty. Surely you weren't that tired. You were sleepy but the chairs weren't even comfortable, and it was shocking how you managed to sleep in them for even an hour.

"Did no one think of even waking me up..not even the librarian?" You ask yourself, looking around in attempt to spot at least one person.

And suddenly it hit you. Your shift was supposed to end in about 6 minutes and, obviously, there was no way you could show up now. By the time you even get there, everyone will have left. But the least you could do is atleast address an apology to your boss. Surely he'd let it slide, right? Yes you were late a couple of times and would wake up to your phone ringing and a few missed calls. But this was a first, missing your shift completely without even calling in for a warning.

Turning on your phone, you expected atleast one missed call and strangely, none were there. 'now that is weird..' you think to yourself as you open up your contacts to dial your boss only to notice that there was no service. sighing in annoyance and just deciding to deal with this when you're home, you pack everything back into your bag in a hurry, hunching the bag over your back, you get up from your seat and start walking towards the library door.

It was quiet. So quiet that the sound of the floors creaking under your feet as you made your way to the door was heard. Not even sounds of cars outside were heard. You stopped before the library door to take a glance around once again when you noticed that the creaking sounds didn't stop, even after you stopped moving.

Holding your breath and looking around, you couldn't see anyone, which left you confused. Was someone still here?
"Hello?" you say, hopefully loud enough for whoever is probably here to hear you. 'shit maybe I wasn't supposed to say anything'.You felt like an American horror story protagonist, what if it's a murderer and they were about to spill your guts out?

Suddenly, you spot a figure walking to the front desk. Studying her figure, you realize it was just the librarian.
"Finally. you're up." She looks at you the second she notices you. "Yeah sorry i fell asleep by accident" you tell her, feeling ashamed; like a kid being confronted by her mom "It's alright. Just stay safe" she flashes you the fakest smile ever and walks away. You can't even blame her. You were sure she dealt with a lot of annoying people.

Turning around to finally leave the library, you start to make your way to your apartment. You check your phone again for service and still, no service. Turning it off, you slip it back in your pocket and focus on your way back home.

Your walk back home was also, suspiciously quiet, barely seeing 5 cars pass by. It wasn't that late, so where did everyone go? You couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, purposely stepping on dead leaves to fill the unbearable silence.

The feeling of unfamiliar eyes piercing through you never left you, not even for a single second. Somehow you still managed to make it back to your apartment complex safely, well probably temporarily.

Making your way up to the stairs, now standing in front of your apartment door, you look around everywhere for your keys, finally locating them. Pulling them out and getting ready to unlock your door, you notice your door slightly opened. Obviously, this makes you freeze in place, putting you on high alert as you carefully glance around you, inspecting every inch of the hallway you're standing in, and only to find nothing suspicious nor different. Surely you didn't forget to lock your door, let alone close it in the first place??
