The autumn breeze drifted through the ancient trees of the forest. Every now and then, the echo of a creature scattering on the ground could be heard from miles away. It was after dawn but most of the wolves had still been asleep. Avyri watching from cliff at the edge of the forest as the fog fell upon the treetops of evergreens. A hawk was soaring only a couple feet above the trees searching for his next meal. She wondered what it would be like to fly and the places she could go. She kept watching the valley as birds flew from tree to tree as she slowly drifted back to sleep.

A cold gust of wind slightly brushed against Avyri's bright white fur. Startled by the sudden cold air on her skin, she woke up frantically. She looked around realizing her siblings and parents were not in their den. She slowly stepped out of the den and saw as the pack had run off to hunt. She had always wondered how they hunt. So, inspired by her strong curiosity, she joined them, un aware of what was to come.

Avyri looked around as she followed the steps of the pack. One thing she realized was the further they went into the forest, the darker it got. The trees were much thicker here and eventually there was very little light left. She decided to go back home. She ran as fast as she could because she always feared being alone and lost. The dark forest had made her fear worse.

She kept on running determined to find home again. She thought that maybe if she told her siblings her scary adventure and how brave she was, they would fear her. In a way that made her feel important.
