"Cillie sweetie, I'm afraid to tell you that me and your father" she paused, and took a saddened breath, not wanting to share the news. "Well... we're getting a divorce," Valerie Burrel said in her small, empty living room. Her boxes were already packed and ready to go. She seemed almost eager to leave. Her soon to be ex, Richard Castellos sat next to her with a scowl on his face as if he couldn't believe his first love and high school sweetheart was leaving him. Across from them sat their 9 year old daughter, Lucille Castellos.

"W-Why?" she asked innocently, her bottom lip wobbling. She was trying hard not to cry. She didn't want to show weakness just like her father had reminded her time after time.

Valerie grimaced. Richard leaned forward and put his elbows on his knees, hands in his head.

Lucille wasn't old enough to understand the aspects of love, however she was confused and wondered why it was such a sudden change. She noticed the way her father looked at her mother and how it had changed throughout the year. His eyes once gleamed with light and passion, now they held so much anger and darkness in them.

Suddenly she couldn't help herself. Lucille broke down in a fit of tears as she clutched herself, knowing her parents wouldn't. She blocked out the world. And this was just the start.
