The nerve of this man. The nerve to act like that while he is quite literally ruining my life. That might be just a little bit dramatic, but it doesn't even matter at this point, that dumb stupid green bird needs to leave me alone. My harsh gaze falls on him from my office cubicle as I grit my teeth. The way he walks, the way he talks it's all so... Sexy? No! I need to stop thinking like that, he's my boss for Pete's sake! Not to mention my boyfriend, Chuck. This is the same chuck that runs the infamous Chuck-E-Cheese restaurant chain. Also known as the most expensive and exclusive restaurant in the nation. These thoughts need to leave my stupid head before they get me in trouble.
"CHLOE!" I am suddenly brought out of my duo induced trance. My coworker Kinley was staring at me intently.
"You okay? You were kind of dozing off there." I cleared my throat as I gained my composure. "Uh... yeah I'm fine, have you started your new designs? Mr. Duo has been on my butt about releasing a new format for our lesson design." Kinley leans on my desk cubicle as she raises an eyebrow at me. "Mr. Duo must really trust you if he's letting YOU decorate the lesson format." I scoff as I let my mind wander. Mr. Duo trusts me?
"You ladies better not be having too much fun over here." His voice is low and raspy as his beak turns to a grin. His smug smile disgusts me. I stand from my cubicle and give him a condensending smile, my eyes narrowing. "We were until you arrived." He only stares intently as a smile spreads across my face. I'm pretty proud of that one. He leans into my face and my cheeks immediately begin to burn a passionate red. He doesn't say a word, he just continues to stare at me. I looked at Kinley confused, but I can tell she's trying to hide her sly little smile.
Even when I look back after what feels like forever, he's still looking at me. Ugh, that smile could kill. How could someone's teeth be so straight. And the way his dimples show when he smiles super wide. Wait... no.... what am I doing thinking like this. Get your head in the game Chloe, remember that you have a very very very rich boyfriend. A very rich boyfriend who bought your house for you, and a pink Rolex, and a Prius is my favorite color (which just happens to be the same color as Duo's feathers, complete coincidence by the way)
Eventually, I get tired of his staring and decide to say something.
"Are you going to keep staring at me or are you disappointed you need something?"
He lets out another one of his stupid chuckles.
"I just needed to check up on those format designs."
"Don't worry Duo, they'll be done by the end of the day, just like you requested."
He chuckled again.
"That's my good girl, always following orders."
I hear Kinley burst out laughing from behind me. And I can feel the heat rush to my cheeks.
"I-I- what?"
He smiles wider than I've ever seen before.
"I love that you're so easily flustered." he says before walking away like nothing happened.
What the actual hell just happened.
