Florence's POV

It was once again another unfulfilling year at Hogwarts for Florence, She didn't know why she stayed away from everyone else it's not like she had a quiet personality, she just didn't like the feeling of being constantly judged by others. From the first day she walked the halls of Hogwarts that's exactly what happened to her, she knew her Heterochromia was odd to look at but she never realized it would cost her being alone. From the day she was born her parents always made sure she knew how different she was and how difficult it would be to make friends but it was never all that bad, not until Hogwarts at least.

Her parents were muggles and ever since she found out that she was a witch her parents were even worse around her, they constantly pointed out her flaws but in backhanded ways as if she wouldn't realize that they meant for their words to hurt her. This was everything that was going through her mind as she boarded the train, her parents hadn't even bothered to come onto the platform, they never came along ever since the very first day she started Hogwarts. She loved her parents but it was hard because shew as so different and her parents strived to uphold their reputation as a 'picture perfect family'.

She aimlessly walked through the corridors of the train looking for an empty compartment, she hated awkward encounters with random people who would just stare at her brown and green eyes with their faces full of judgement and disgust, it was worse when there was more than one person who sat with her, but that was rare. At the end of the train she found a compartment and she was getting ready to settle in when she realized she didn't have anything to do as she left all her books in her trunk which was in the luggage compartment, she could sneak in to find it but she soon realized that it seemed like a bad idea so she stuck to gazing out the window at all of the landscape, wishing she could just be ordinary.

She started to doze off as the sky began to darken but she was abruptly awoken by the sound of shouting and laughter, it was painstakingly loud and she would never get any sleep in if it went on like this. Now she may have seemed quiet and isolated but she would never let some stupid boys cause this much disruption on the train regardless of if she was a prefect or not, it was annoying and she wanted to sleep and very unfortunately there were no more empty compartments left so just moving somewhere else wasn't an option.

She got up from her seat and mentally prepared herself to go over there and shut those boys up, she may be a Gryffindor but even she felt nervous walking towards their compartment, after all who knows what these rowdy boys might say or think when they see her awful eyes. She shoved all these negative thoughts out of her mind as she put her game face on, she walked over to there compartment and there shouts just grew increasingly louder as she grew angrier. Florence slammed the compartment door open with annoyance written all over her face.

"Do you four ever shut up?!" Florence said as she watched them all very closely. "You know I didn't think it was possible until you walked in" unsurprisingly James was the first to speak, he had an arrogant smirk on his face as he watched me. "You do know that there are other people on this train? Some of which are trying to sleep and weren't fortunate enough to get a compartment far away enough from you morons" said Florence as she sent them all a glare which didn't do any damage to James and Sirius' smirks. She scoffed as she realized this was getting nowhere "Just next time maybe try to have some sympathy for the unfortunate people who have to be around you loud-mouthed jerks" said Florence as she scoffed and flipped her long black hair and walked off "Pricks" she muttered as she slammed her compartment door shut and continued to doze off before they arrived at Hogwarts.

The Marauders' POV

After that mildly shocking incident, the boys all looked at each other in silent shock as they never believed that someone besides McGonagall would have the guts to tell them off like that. While all the others boys were shocked, Remus was mesmerized he had never seen someone with such intriguing features, but what was more intriguing was her confidence. He wanted to know all about her already. "Do you guys know who that was?" Asked Remus discreetly as he tried his best to hide his curiosity, "That Moony is Florence Ryton, everyone knows her for her weird eyes I'm surprised you don't recognize her she's a 5th year just like us, But she's always alone and no one's dared to get close to her." Said James in an unbothered manner, "It's a bit sad to be honest, I mean she can't control the fact that her eyes are that way" Said Peter in an unsure manner while grabbing his 4th Cauldron Cake "Well, yes I guess It is but that doesn't matter back to our convers-" "How come I've never seen her around before?" Remus asked again.

He scoffed and rolled his eyes in a very dramatic manner, "Because, Like I said she always alone it's not that hard to not notice her" said Sirius as if it was obvious. "Anyways" said James very clearly trying to move on from the subject, "Lads, we need an amazing prank to kickoff the school year! This one has to be epic but not too epic, becau..." James' voice faded as Remus tried to recall ever seeing Florence around the school halls, but it all came blank. It was if she was never really there.

Though he found that very hard to believe, he was sure would remember such beautiful eyes as hers.

"...Remus...Remussss..." said Peter as James was snapping in his face trying to get him back from his day dream, "W-what?..OH! right yeah sorry about that I was just...thinking" About Florence... "It's about the next full moon isn't it?" said Peter, "YES! RIGHT THE-UH FULL MOON RIGHT!" Remus said trying to sound believable. The boys all looked at each other before shrugging and getting back to the conversation that Remus had no clue of but he picked up his recent novel reading and went on for the rest of the train ride, thinking of ways to get to talk to Florence.
