"Very cute," Ruby chimed with a smirk as she watched Jack walk away from us, but I could do nothing but roll my eyes and shrug in response. "What's that suppose to mean?" She queried, leaning over our small cafe table with eagerness.

"I don't know..." I trailed, tossing my salad with my fork in boredom. Time spent with Jack was beginning to feel like nothing but a task- a chore and I had already started loathing his company after just a single month of dating him. Perhaps I didn't enjoy his presence because he was genuinely a shitty person to be around, or perhaps it was all because I had thought I could transfer my love from Fred to someone else and expected it to work.

"How long have we known each other?" Ruby's tone was challenging, and I sit and thought when it did not look like a rhetorical question.

"Two and..." I trailed off, squinting at the roof as I attempted to find the answer to my newest friends question. "A bit months!" I finally exclaimed as I quit trying to visualised the weeks, that since finishing school seemed to blur together. "Why?" I asked her now, and she leant in a little closer, almost knocking her coffee over.

"Even in that short amount of time I can see you don't like the guy- everyone can see it in your eyes when you look at him. So, why don't you just break up with him?" She questioned me with a quizzical stare and my eyes shot to her in a frantic state, whilst my foot planted a whack to her shin.

"Shut up, he'll hear you!" I yelled in a whisper and I glared down at my salad, which I hadn't even wanted in the first place. "He bloody hears everything..." I mumbled to myself as Ruby began running her shin with her perfectly manicured hands.

"That. Hurt." She growled, continuing to run the affected area and I hollowly apologised. "Whatever, what's with the guy anyway?" She mumbled, taking a strawberry between her teeth and shrugging.

"I don't know, we used to date really early on in school, then he left and now he's a dark and gloomy douchenozzle, and Merlin he's possessive, but..." I shrugged, "maybe I love him." I concluded and she snorted a laugh.

"Or you're bored," she stated and I chuckled softly at her response, continuing to stab at my salad.

"Or maybe I'm the asshole," I teased and the red haired girl, who was even a year older than George, leaned forward yet again.

"Oh yeah? Why's that?" She whispered, her rosy, glossy lips raised into a smirk.

"Maybe I'm using him..." I took a sip from my 'low fat' milk shake, all curtesy to Jack and his incessant habit of controlling my eating habits.

"Oh yeah?" She perked up,

"Yeah!" I perked back.

"You look like shit by the way," she suddenly commented, taking a sip of her own drink.

"Jee thanks pal," I retorted sarcastically, poking at my unsatisfying shake with the straw.

"Hey, you are not fooling anyone! And that 'boyfriend' of yours should be taking care of you." She scolded, glaring at his back in the distance. "What's been up with you lately?" She pondered, staring hard into my eyes, and I could here sincere concern in her sweet voice.
