the night we met - lord huron"take me back to the night we met"
it was our last day, here in florida and it had gone by so fast. i didn't want to leave, i loved it here. but most importantly, i didn't want to leave matt.
i woke up about an hour earlier than i had to today so i could spend more time with matt, it was 7 in the morning and my dad was going to make sure we woke up at 8 so we could be on the road by 12.
i got out of bed and tiptoed out of my room as sarah was still asleep, my mom was awake making the most of the tv before we had to go back to no cable.
"morning" i smile as her and she turns around to look at me, she was drinking a coffee, "morning, what you doing up so early" she asks me and i roll my eyes, was it not ovbious?
"i want to see matt before we go" i reply and she smiles, "when i was your age i had a little holiday romance" she replies and i raise my eyebrows, "really, did you see them again?" i ask and she smiles, "well not after i left the holiday place, it was this caravan place actually. but i saw him again in college, he was doing the same degree as me" my mom replies and i nod. she was being very vague with who he was, "who was it?" i ask and she nods her head towards her bedroom door, "your dad" she replies and my gaze softens, "that's so cute" i reply and she nods, "hopefully that's me and matt" i reply and she rolls her eyes and pays my knee, "go and get ready" she smiles and i get up to go and freshen up.
i was wearing a black bodysuit and a pair of my jeans, i had also but a belt on as they were abit too big for me.
i say goodbye to my mom and walked out of the door, it was a nice morning. the sun was out, but it wasn't too hot, and there was a slight breeze.
i walked to mine and matts spot and i see him sat on a rock that was facing the pond, "hey you" i smile and he turns around to face me, also smiling, "hey you" he replies as i make my way over to sit next to him.
i rest my head on his shoulder and we have a nice small comfortable silence until i break it, "i don't wanna leave you" i say, close to tears. i hadn't known matt for that long but he had had such an impact on my life, he saved me and he didn't even know it.
i wasn't the happiest person when i came here but i also wasn't the unhappiest. my school life wasn't the best back at home and to be honest, i wanted to move but we couldn't.
matt turns to face me and smiles, "i don't want to leave you either" he replies as i let some tears escape from my eyes. matt cups my face and wipes them away with his thumbs, "don't cry, we'll see eachother again someday. our states aren't that far apart" he replies and i let out a small laugh.
"someday best be soon" i reply and he nods, we sat down for about five minutes longer in a comfortable silence. but this time, matt breaks it. "i got you this" he looks away from me and at his pocket. i look to see what he's getting and it's a walkman, "it has all your favourite songs, songs that remind me of you and some songs that remind me of us on it" he grins at me and i smile.
"oh my how much did you spend on this?" i ask him and he shakes his head, "doesn't matter" he replies. matt passes me the walkman and i tuck it in my pocket.
"thank you, matt" i reply and he nods, "it's nothing" i shake my head, "i feel bad, i didn't get you anything" i reply and matt furrows his brows at me, "it's fine, honest"
