Fogleap got up, careful to not wake up Banditkit. She padded over to the river, watching the fish swim by her. Her eyes welling up with tears
'I hope BanditKit will never find out' she thought. She wiped the tears off her face with her paw. When she pulled her paw away she cot a glimpse of blood, but once she adjusted it turned out to just be a fragment of her imagination. She got up and heaved her way over to the fresh kill pile. She returned to the nursery, nudging Banditkit and Stormkit. She gave them a plump rabbit to share.
Sitting back where she was previously, begging Starclan would forgive her for having kits with a cat from a different clan.
Banditkit got up, approaching her "What's wrong mama?" she asked sympathetically.
"Oh.. just something about my past, it's okay, BanditKit." Fogleap purred, nudging Banditkit with her nose.
"Okay, mama!" She mewed playfully.
(The next day)
"Bearslash, you have to understand how she would feel if we told her! She would hate both of us. Let me tell her when she's an apprentice, she will feel better about it! Stormkit is the only acceptation because how ill she is!
"Fine, but don't blame me if Banditkit hates you for not telling her earlier!" He hissed, his pupils were like needles and teeth bared.
"Don't act like you're not overreacting, Bearslash, just because they aren't your kits doesn't mean it's the end of the world!" She retorted angrily.
"Don't act like I'm not overreacting? How can I do that if I am not overreacting?" He hissed, sounding like you could hear him from a complete other camp.
Bearslash suddenly, out of spite. Let out a burst of rage, clawing at Fogleap's chest.
"Get your filthy claws off me!" Fogleap yowled, nipping at his ear. Limping off to the medicine den.
Bearslash wiped blood off of a scratch. Blood on his paw pads, looking back up at the she-cat. "Wait, Fogleap!" He yelled, calling her over.
"Mhm?" She turned her head around.
"Tell Stormkit" He requested.
"Fine." Fogleap turned back around, continuing to pad to the medicine den.
'Well, Stormkit is already dying, so Starclan is doing that job for me. But Banditkit and Fogleap will have to learn the hard way, I guess' Bearslash thought to himself.
"Oh Starclan what happened to you? These wounds are very deep, what happened to you?" Swifthare asked.
"Me and Bearslash got into a small fight" She replied, embarrassed
"Small?" he chuckled.
(After a few minutes)
"Alright, you're good to go." Swifthare dismissed Fogleap.
"Thank you, Swifthare" Fogleap purred. Getting up and walking off.
Fogleap entered the nursery, staring at her kits for a moment. Giving them another soft stare before falling asleep.
(The next day)
Fogleap escorted Banditkit to the medicine den, approaching Swifthare.
Before Fogleap has the chance to say anything, Swifthare turns toward the two "Hey, so sorry to delay you two. Frostedlake is miraculously still alive, she's going to start her kitting any minute now. Could you two sit outside the den for a bit? This isn't something Banditkit should be watching."
Fogleap nods, nudging Banditkit and leading her towards the clearing.
Banditkit takes in the scenery, unexpectedly being interrupted by loud yowling from inside the medicine den. Curious, she gets up and begins to walk towards the den before suddenly getting scruffed by Fogleap.
"Sorry Banditkit, not right now. Big things that you shouldn't see are happening." She purrs, trembling slightly.
Banditkit nods, continuing to sit there.
"You can do it Frostedlake, you're almost there!" Swifthare could be heard encouraging the kitting queen.
A few minutes later the yowling dies down, Banditkit suddenly takes off into the medicine den before Fogleap can stop her. Immediately Banditkit notices a grieving look on Swifthare's face as he stares at Frostedlake, who appeared unresponsive next to 5 kits, only 2 moving. Raccoonpelt sitting over the lifeless body.
"She's not dead ... is she?" The tom asks solemnly in a quiet tone.
"I'm afraid so, these three also appear to have not made it either." Swifthare sits down next to the grieving father.
Fogleap rushes in the den behind Banditkit. "I am so sorry! Banditkit darted in here before I could catch her!" She pants.
Swifthare and Raccoonpelt stare in shock. "How long was she in here..?" Swifthare stands up, walking the two out of the medicine den.
"About a minute or so." Fogleap admits remorsefully.
Swifthare nods before returning to the medicine den "I'll handle Banditkit later, sorry again."
