“Do we have any idea why Kamado's been attacking us?”

Douma's question hung in the air for several long, silent moments.

“He could just be angry," Kaigaku suggested. The young Uppermoon was still shaken from when Tanjirou had attacked him just a day ago.

“But attacking us is illogical,” Akaza contradicted. “And Kamado's not a rash kid. He's... calculated.”

“Becoming a demon... would make any Demon Slayer.. go wild,” Kokushibou muttered. “But it wouldn't... make someone with a world of patience... go insane.”

“You would know,” muttered Akaza. Kokushibou glared at him but said nothing.

“So we have no ideas?” Douma asked. “None,” Kokushibou confirmed. Akaza sighed. “What, then? How do we figure out what the kid's up to?”

“We don't,” Kokushibou responded with a shrug. “We just wait and see.”

Or, that's what he said. But they wouldn't wait long.

Trembling with excitement, Muichirou slipped back into his body. Tengen, Shinobu, Giyuu, and the others had all gathered to watch the young Pillar reclaim his body.

After a few moments of anticipation, Muichirou sat up and declared excitedly, “I'm back! I'm back! I've got my body back!”

The others cheered. Giyuu stepped forward and handed Muichirou his katana. “Here. You can't fight without this.”

“Thanks,” Muichirou replied, grabbing his katana tightly. Then he glanced at Tanjirou, who nodded. “Let's go.”

Tanjirou led the way out of Kokushibou's room where they'd all been gathered. Letting out a series of battle cries, the group attacked the unsuspecting Uppermoons.

The demons were quick to react, drawing their weapons or activating their blood demon arts. “Scatter them!” Kokushibou ordered.

Nakime was quick to comply, striking a series of strings on her biwa that scattered the Uppermoons and Demon Slayers around the Infinity Castle.

Despite the sudden change in conditions, the battle raged on. Yells and cries from the Demon Slayers echoed through the eerie halls.

Suddenly, a wall broke down. The remaining Demon Slayers from the Corps had arrived.

Iguro and Kanroji attacked Nakime as a pair. Through a blur of tears, Shinazugawa teamed up with Gyomei to tag-team Kokushibou. Moments later, Muichirou joined them.

Zenitsu watched, marvelling at the bright sparks that lit the darkness, albeit dimly. But he was soon forced into the fight when Kaigaku, covered in blood from the Demon Slayers he'd been Fighting, rushed towards him. The others were nowhere to be seen.

Shinobu was locked in battle with Douma. Tanjirou teamed up with Giyuu to go after Akaza. The Uppermoons wouldn't go down without a fight.

Kaigaku swung at Zenitsu, only for his blow to be deflected. Zenitsu's eyes were blinding white. It surprised Kaigaku to see the boy he'd known as nothing more than a worthless coward standing so firmly against him.

“You caused Gramps to die,” Zenitsu muttered coldly. Kaigaku only growled. “The old man killed himself,” he spat. “Because the kid he worked so hard to train became the very thing he swore to destroy,” Zenitsu retorted.

“I did it to become stronger,” Kaigaku snorted. “Not that you would know anything about that.”

Zenitsu didn't reply. He just kept attacking, more consistently than Kaigaku realized he was capable of.

Kaigaku found that he was struggling to keep up with his former Kouhai's movements, and he despised that fact.

“You were nothing!” Kaigaku snarled. “You were a good-for-nothing deadbeat lowlife!”

“I got tired of being weak, so I changed.” Zenitsu's voice was cold. “Now if you'll be so kind, I have revenge to take for Gramps.”

Kaigaku didn't have to think hard to realize what Zenitsu meant.

“If you want to kill me, you'd better try harder,” he mocked. Zenitsu's lips curled. “If you say so.”

It was only then that Kaigaku realized just how dire his situation was. Then he realized where they were. Right on the edge of a balcony.

Kaigaku shoved Zenitsu off the edge. He grinned, thinking he'd won as he watched the Demon Skayer fall further down the vertical hallway.

That was, until he caught a flash of blinding light, combined with the eardrum-bursting sound of the thujder. Only too late did Kaigaku realize Zenitsu had darted back up.

Kaigaku didn't get the chance to react before he felt metal, hot enough to melt a normal human's skin, cut through his neck. It would've hurt, Kaigaku guessed, if it hadn't been so quick.

It took the Uppermoon a moment to realize what had happened. But the second he realized his head was no longer on his shoulders, horror passed through his body. And that icy-cold fear was the last thing Kaigaku knew before his severed head hit the ground, and his world went black.
