Counter Six lay abandoned on the classroom floor. A third grade student had left it sitting there after the end of the day counting lesson.
The custodian came with a broom. Counter Six was swept into the soft, dusty bucket. The Beyond. Maybe it wasn't as bad as the counters had always thought.
