After work Felix went to scout out some areas where Izzy could possibly have her bakery. There weren't that many good options and he didn't find any. That night at dinner they discussed their day. "Well Cess can't", said Izzy. "And I didn't find any good spots. Looks like we both didn't have a very successful day." "I am going to ask Sarah about it tomorrow, she could be a good candidate. I don't think she does any day job except help out at the store and at the doctor's office every now and then." Felix nodded, "Good idea Iz, but I have no ideas." They sat in thoughtful silence for the rest of dinner, trying to make up plans. They went to sleep later that night with no fresh ideas on where to put up the shop.
The next day Izzy went to visit Sarah at the Elliot house. "Izzy! Come in!", said Sarah greeting her. Izzy set her things down and then her and Sarah sat down in the parlor. Sarah brought out some tea and cookies to enjoy while they talked. For a bit they caught up and chatted about Avonlea news. Finally Izzy brought up why she came, "Sarah I didn't come here to just chat, though I do love talking with you." Sarah set her tea down, "I assumed so. What can I do for you?" "I know you sometimes help out at the store and I wondered if you would consider taking a more full time job there." Sarah smiled, "Sure, of course. I can come in more often and Booth would be grateful for the extra money." Izzy bit her lip, "What I mean by full time job is, taking over the store, becoming the manager." "You want me to take over?", asked Sarah surprised. Izzy explained her plans for her bakery/restaurant and said, "I think you would be a great person to run the store. You don't have to make a decision today, but please at least think and pray about it. I won't be offended if you don't and I totally understand if it's not possible. However I think you would do great and I know that you would run it fair and square unlike some people in our town might." Sarah smiled, "I'll talk to Booth about tonight. We'll let you know before next Sunday." Izzy smiled back, "That's all I can ask."
Meanwhile Felix has found it, the perfect place. He talked it over with Clive and Muriel and they had agreed with him. Of course the place would need lots of remodeling, fixing up and repair, but it would work. That night Muriel and Clive had Felix and Izzy over for dinner. "So I talked to Sarah this morning and she said she would talk it over with Booth and give us her answer by Sunday." "Do you think she'll take the opportunity?", asked Clive. Izzy shrugged, "Maybe. It did seem promising though." Felix turned to Izzy, "I found a place Iz." Izzy brightened up, "You did!? Where?!" Felix pointed at the table, "Right here." Izzy was now confused, "Here?" Muriel piped in, "Your father and I discussed it and we decided that this would be a perfect place for Izzy's Cafe. We'll give it to you and you can turn it into whatever you want." Izzy smiled, tears in her eyes, "Thank you, this is the perfect place." Felix hugged his wife, "It'll take a lot of work, but we're both up to the challenge." Izzy kissed him on the cheek, "That we are dear husband." "Aww", said Muriel. Clive just rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.
The next few weeks flew by very quickly. Sarah had agreed to take over the general store and Muriel sold it to her. Clive and Muriel began packing and Izzy and Felix began making designs and plans. By the end of two months, the Pettibones moved out and Clive and Muriel left. Clive's legs were okay for now, but they were quite weak now and he had to sit a lot of times. After they moved out, Felix and Izzy set to work. They moved all the furniture left behind to one room and then began work on the others. The kitchen would remain, but they would add the parlor to the kitchen as an extension. Then they were transforming the living room and dining room into one huge area for the customers to eat. The one bedroom downstairs was changed into a private dining area for two for a private meeting or a special date night. The bathroom stayed the same since they kind of needed that. The upstairs went through some remodeling as well. Izzy's parents and Arthur's bedrooms were combined into a storage are to store boxes of food and other unused equipment. Morgan's room was now an office for Izzy when she was up there doing office work. Izzy's bedroom stayed the same for if they needed a place to crash or rewind after a busy hour.
After a month of these renovations, the house had been transformed into a cafe. Izzy got to work making menus and pricing various things. A week later she opened up. It was packed the first day and she sold out by the the afternoon hour. It went on like that for a week until everyone began going more regularly instead of all at once. Izzy stayed busy for the next month with her cafe, but she was glad for the business. Even Sally Potts came in to get a slice of pie every now and then. Felix was very proud of his wife and told her so after the first month went by.
"Iz, I'm so proud of you!, said Felix at dinner one evening. Izzy smiled shyly, "Thank you." Felix took her hand, "I love you and I hope you know that." Izzy nodded, "I do and I love you too Felix." Felix grinned, "I bet our kids will love you Iz." Izzy chuckled, "They'll take after you for sure." "Oh? How do you know?" Izzy's eyes twinkled, "We'll just have to find out for ourselves in about 9 months won't we?" Felix sat shocked for a few seconds and then he picked her up carefully and twirled her around gently, "You're pregnant!?" "Yes." Felix bent and kissed his wife, "I am so excited!" Izzy grinned, "I am too."
Felix and Izzy went on to have 3 kids. 1 girl named Jessica after Izzy's mom and another named Isabella. They also had one son named Morgan and we all know who he was named after. Clive did lose his walking abilities, but he and Muriel came to visit often. Avonlea continued to be a little slice of paradise and Izzy and Felix kept busy with their kids and the cafe and hotel. Felix eventually took over the hotel and Izzy ran her cafe. And so ends our story, the story of a town who changes the lives of whoever lives there.
