Travis Barker wants me to utilise this moment that I am going through to push my music but I am scared that my album will bomb as a result of it. I am currently making headlines due to my recent controversy so I am unsure of whether it is wise to release new music now.
"Releasing music now would come across as insensitive." I tell Travis as we sit down for our meeting regarding my upcoming album under DTA Records. "I already fucked up by cheating on my boyfriend and now the world knows that it was with Colson so it's not right for me to release music now. That will make me appear as an opportunist which I am not."
Travis sighs while rubbing his neck, "I don't want to be that asshole that tells you that we are going to enforce the contract but you have to see things from my perspective. We have a schedule that we need to follow and if you are not abiding by that then it leaves me in a predicament where I now need to push things back."
"I understand that but I'm not thinking about the music right now and if worst comes worst then we'll drop the entire album." I purse my lips together. "I'm pretty infuriated with everything going on right now and all I want to do is disappear."
"Wouldn't we all?" Travis clears his throat. "I can give you another week or two to get your shit together but then we need to ride this wave. Whenever an artist drops a single or two, it sets the tone for what is to come and if it has been weeks of nothing then people get bored and move on."
I rub the back of my neck, "What do you suggest I do?"
"I'm not going to force you to drop a new single for now but what we can do is have you record a live version of your new music." Travis pulls a series of faces. "Or we can have you team up with Miley."
"Why Miley?"
"You guys have good chemistry together." He points out and I nod my head in agreement. "You have expressed interest in going on tour together since you're both releasing similar albums. Since you're both entering this new era, we can use this opportunity to have you pave the way to new rock sound. A backyard session or live sessions at home with whomever could be a great way to kick it off."
