A Black Butler x Pandora Hearts chapter :

-Oz's POV -

The wind blew, chilling my bones. I've been here before. The deserted streets seem to cry out, whispering of their loneliness. I stand amongst the bushes lining the sidewalks, thinking to myself what stories might unfold here. But this isn't my story. And I need to return. Gil and Alice are waiting for me. I no longer want to stay here, alone. I turn around and I'm greeted with complete darkness, leaving me empty minded. I cry out for help as the shadows grab me, pulling me into a deep abyss. I reach up, desperately grasping the air. My face is slowly being covered, spotting my vision. Just as I start to give in, a voice calls to me, and a glowing light beckons to me, inviting me into it's warmth. A face starts to become visible. Long flowing hair caresses her smooth porcelain face. Her dark eyes staring at me intensely. She shows a slight scowl, almost like she's more annoyed than angry. She reaches her hand out and I gladly accept it. A kind smile slowly spreads across her face, warming me all the way through. She starts to say something but is interrupted when a dark force slams into us, causing her to lose her grip on me. I fall back down into never ending shadows, and just as I lose sight of her I hear her say three words...

"I'm sorry, Oz..."

I jolt awake and pull myself into a sitting position. I sigh and rub my face, trying to wipe away the dark remnants of my dream. I stand up and stretch. After hearing a few pops I'm satisfied and I leave my room, walking down the hall to the kitchen. I lazily seat myself in a chair and rest my head on the table. Gilbert and Alice come in and take seats as well. We all seem to be in a solemn mood, seeing as how none of us make an attempt to start a conversation. Xerxes happily comes skipping in next to Sharon, humming to himself playfully. He jumps onto the table, walks to the other end, jumps off, and walks over to the fridge, pulling out several items that don't go together at all. In his arms I spot a gallon of milk, three eggs, the pickle jar, and some leftover cookie dough from last night. I lay my head back down. I briefly hear Sharon telling Xerxes that he shouldn't walk on the furniture, to which he replies, "But it wouldn't be nearly as fun to walk where your feet belong!" She sighs and takes a seat next to gilbert. Alice is seated to my left and Gilbert across from her, so Sharon is directly across from me. Xerxes takes out the blender and throws his ingredients in. Gilbert glances at him and mumbles something about him being an old coot who can't tell his head from his butt. We all sit in silence until Xerxes brings us all plates of who knows what. I stare down at it quizzically. It's a brownish green mush with a few chocolate chips spread about. Gilbert slides his chair back in disgust. Alice looks at it, seemingly contemplating whether or not to eat it. Sharon picks up her fork and takes the first bite. She keeps on a poker face so I can't tell if she liked it or not. Xerxes sits on the table at the far end, his plate in his lap. I finally decide to taste what is before me and to my surprise it's not half bad. After we all finish eating Alice stands up in her chair and stomps a booted foot on the table.

"I want to go to the market!" She declares boldly, her hands on her hips.

"Why, Alice?" I ask, wiping my mouth with my napkin.

She turns to me and points, "Because we have run out of meat!"

Gil stands up, annoyed with Alice's outburst, and pulls her off the table, "This isn't your house, get off!"

He tosses her over his shoulder and walks towards the front door, with Alice pounding her little fists into his back. I jump up and follow them, wanting to go explore the town as well.

"Hey, Alice!" I yell from a street vendor, "Come look at this!"

She trots over to see what I've found. I hold up a silver pocket watch with a thin chain attached to the top. She takes it from me and examines it closely.

"It's a lot like yours..." She mutters, gazing down at it.

I turn back to the vendor owner, "How much for this watch?"

"Oh, that thing is ten pounds." He crosses his arms, "I haven't been able to get rid of it."

"We'll take it then!" I fish out the required amount from my back pocket and hand it to him.

I grab Alice by the hand and drag her down the dirt path with me, off to see what other treasures we can find. Gilbert sees us run off from a nearby stand and frantically runs after us. I decide that instead of looking at these boring kiosks it'd be much more fun to play 'run away from Gil', and so the chase begins. We duck under an overweight man and turn into a dark alley. We lean against the brick wall and catch our breath. I look over to the opening and see Gil run right past us.

"Come on, let's follow him and see where he goes!" I look back at Alice and I'm left in complete panic.

She's gone.

I quickly rush further down the alley, calling for her. I don't get any responses no matter how far I go. Where is she? I'm about to go get Gilbert in a panic, but as soon as I turn around extreme pain shoots through my chest. I yelp and grasp it, slowly falling to my knees. It must be my incuse! Just as I completely collapse I see someone run up to me, followed by two other figures. They lean down and gently shake me, saying things like, "What do we do?!" and "Should we go get Sebastian?!"

Then everything goes completely dark...

~ ---- () ---- ~

I hear strange whispering. I don't recognize any of these voices. I force myself to open my eyes and I'm immediately blinded by a bright light. I squeeze my eyes shut again.

"Hey, get that out of his face, Bardroy!" a young voice whispers.

I open my eyes again and the bright light is gone. I blink a few times, trying to get my bearings. I sit up and see that I'm in a big bed, with velvet drapes flowing down from the corners of the headboard. Three people are sitting at the foot of the bed, a man with a wispy goatee, a young woman with huge glasses in a maids outfit, and a young boy with... are those hairclips in his hair? Oh well, this place is strange... The older man is holding a small flashlight and I assume that was the bright light that I encountered when I awoke. Where am I? Where are Alice and Gilbert? I look at the three misfits for a good while, determining if they're hostile or not. I've come to the conclusion that they are not. They stare at me with wide eyes. I make my way out of bed and cautiously watch them as I head for the door. They get up and walk towards me, curiosity shining in their eyes. The girl trips and face plants into the floor, causing the other two to help her up, asking if she's alright and stating that she always does this... I make my move and sprint out of the room. I sprint down several hallways that all look the same to me. This place is more confusing than our mansion back home. I find what seems to be the kitchen and run in. I stop in my tracks when I notice a flamethrower on the counter. What is this place?! I run back out and into another room. I shut the door behind me and sigh in relief. I think I lost them. I turn around and see a tall figure. It's too dark to see features but it looks like a man. I look up until I find his face, and I see two red glowing eyes.

"And who might you be?" The man asks, "I hope you are not an intruder, because that would be very unfortunate...for you."
