- Yukine's POV -"So, where exactly are we going?" I ask, sitting at the back of the huge white snake.
The white haired guy who introduced himself as Mizuki is sitting at the front, Yato behind him, then Hiyori, and finally, me.
"We're going to my lady, Nanami's, shrine!" Mizuki chirps happily. "We will be there in about ten more minutes."
I decide to watch the scenery since there's not really anything else to do. We soar through the night sky, high above the twinkling city lights. we've been going on like this for an hour already and my back is starting to get soar. A giant snake isn't very comfortable. I watch the city slowly turn into farmlands, their golden fields spreading as far as the eye can see. I eventually start to daze off and lean forward against Hiyori's back. It's so warm...
"Yeow!" Yato yelps, "Yukine!"
I sit up and look at Yato, who is clutching the back of his neck, glaring back at me. Oops... I think I stung him...
"Yukine, don't make me come back there!" He yells.
"You can't come back here," I state, "We're over a hundred feet in the air, you'd fall!"
"I will if you sting me again!" He says, turning back around. "Hiyori, you'd better watch yourself with him!"
I groan and sit back, contemplating how to get him back later.
Hiyori looks back at me and smiles, "I don't mind. If you're tired you should get some rest."
I nod and lean against her again, immediately falling asleep.

"Yukine, wake up!" Someone yells at me.
I yawn and sit up, rubbinjg my eyes. "What...?"
I look up to see Yato standing over me, his face lit up like a little boy on Christmas Day. "We're here."
He moves to the left and I see our destination spread out before me. A nicely trimmed lawn full of luscious green grass, and a few well kept trees dot the landscape. Wooden steps lead to a huge shrine, archways marking every few meters. Some orange and red lanterns are hung up in various places, each with a fox logo of the opposing color. A lone cherry blossom sits at the top of the hill, branching over the top of the shrine. I'm the only one still on the big snake so I quickly climb off. We start up the stairs, eventually reaching the top. When we do a man comes out to greet us. He has white hair that slightly curls around his face, and almost animal-like eyes. He's wearing a dull white and purple kimono.
"Welcome to the Mikage Shrine. He bows, a sly smile creeping across his face. "My name is Tomoe and I will escort you to Lady Nanami."
He turns to go back into the shrine, motioning for us to follow. Mizuki runs on ahead which causes Tomoe to yell at him. We walk down a wooden hallway and walk through an open sliding panel made out of thin canvas. My eyes widen in amazement. There's a big round table sitting in the middle of the room along with purple pillows to sit on. On the north wall is a kitchen area with an oven, fridge, and several other cooking appliances. Running to and from the kitchen is a young girl. She's wearing a yellow apron on top of her white kimono and her light brown hair is put up in a bun with some chopsticks.
Tomoe walks up to her in the kitchen and gently takes the spatula from her and begins cooking in her stead, "Your guests are here, Nanami."
The girl gasps and turns around in astonishment.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't notice you come in!" She bows several times.
Yato looks rather pleased with her bows but hesitantly says she doesn't have to after I elbow him in the side.
We all three bow back to her.
"My name is Nanami, nice to meet you all!" She says, taking off her apron.
"I'm Yato, a fast, affordable, and reliable delivery god!" Yato says, handing her his card.
He reaches over and ruffles my hair, "And this is Yukine, my Regalia!"
"Regalia?" She asks.
"A Regalia is a spirit who helps a god fight evil beings." I explain.
"Oh! Over here we call them Familiars!" She laughs a little, "Tomoe and Mizuki are my Familiars."
I glance over at the two white haired boys, both cooking behind the counter. Are they really the same as me? I guess it's not impossible. There are stranger things out there. Like the Ayakashi.
"Have you ever fought the Ayakashi?" I ask them.
Mizuki looks at me, "If you're talking about evil spirits, then yes! But I've never heard of them called that before."
"It's only natural that they would have different names for them, seeing as how they come from a different part of Japan." Hiyori clarifies.
"Alright, let's eat, and then we can talk about why I've brought you here." Nanami chirps as dishes of food are placed on the table.
We all dig in and about thirty minutes later we're stuffed. We retire to the living area, which consists of a small rectangular coffee table, red cushions to sit on, and a tv against the south wall. We all comfy ourselves into the cushions, sitting around the table. Yato and Nanami sit at either end, me and Hiyori on one side, and Tomoe and Mizuki on the other.
"Right then, down to business." Nanami clears her throat, "Lately, evil spirits have been moving eastward, abandoning these areas. It's almost as if something is calling to them, telling them to leave. I'm not sure what could be so powerful, but I know it's nothing we can handle on our own."
She gets up and walks over to Yato, dropping onto her knees in front of him, head touching the ground, "Yatogami, please, answer my wish and help me find the cause for all of this!"
She sits up and pulls a five yen coin out of her pocket, handing it to a flabbergasted Yato. He remains frozen there, staring down at the coin sitting in the palm of his hand.
He finally stands up, holding the coin between his thumb and index finger, a smile across his face, "Your wish has been heard loud and clear!"
