I was cold, now I'm freezing
Stuck in a permanent season

Four years after
"Help me get these bags upstairs, Joanne," Naomi said, already walking up the steps as the maid rushed after her. She took the bags that were left on the floor by her driver and brought them up to a walk-in closet in the master bedroom.
"Thank you," Naomi said, letting the woman help her organize the contents. She took off all the tags and threw them away, making the entire wardrobe feel like nothing had changed. With focus and precision, both of them put the newly-bought clothes to meddle in between the rest, while putting the new designer bags and shoes to the rack on the far back. It took them a little under an hour to finish off.
"This should be good. You can leave." Naomi sighed deeply, observing the closet with hands on her hips.
"Very well, ma'am." Joanne excused herself, gently closing the door at her exit.
Naomi waited for a few moments, then walked to the bathroom, stripping from her clothes before filling up the bath with steaming hot water. She glittered it with scented oils and other products that brought up plenty of foam before sinking in, enjoying the feel of her muscles relaxing.
It was five in the afternoon, which left a good amount of time for her to get ready for the evenings' corporate event. Jungkook mentioned in the previous week that he'll be hosting dinner and drinks at their house and she felt excited to participate in the preparations, wasting no time to get everything ready.
Organizing events was her specialty. She loved to make the moments enjoyable, adding a breath of elegance for the celebrating achievments. Guests would soon begin to come by, but Jungkook was still nowhere in sight.
Naomi was getting agitated, but refused to call on his phone. If that's how he was going to repay her for hosting everything for him, then he can also make excuses for himself. Just as she was moments before being ready to leave the bedroom, the door burst open to reveal her husband, but she didn't mean to spare him a single glance.
"You finally showed up." Naomi scoffed once Jungkook walked into the room, seeing her standing in front of the mirror. His eyes raked over her figure, seeing the tight black dress that slowly waved out at the bottom and reached the floor. She worked on placing her earrings in, not looking at him once.
"I've had some business to deal with."
"I can imagine," Naomi finally turned around, her brow arched as she analyzed his clothes and slightly messy hair.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I think you know exactly what I mean." She walked past him, about to leave the room when Jungkook took her hand, gently stopping her.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" He scoffed, slightly shaking his head. "Insinuating that I'm not loyal, seriously?"
"Hm," Naomi yanked her arm from his hold and walked out.
"Right. Walk away like you do best." Jungkook muttered, released a breath and began to loosen his tie. His mood instantly dropped the second he walked into the bedroom and he wished he didn't have to endure all of this on a daily basis.
It's been like it for the past few months. They barely talked and when they did, all there was, contained insults and unresolved problems that piled up into something that they never looked back to.
Jungkook tried to take his mind off of it and walked to the bathroom. He washed up fast before putting on a suit, knowing Naomi was about to be furious when he would show up last minute. Their backyard already began filling up with people and he walked forward to start greeting them.
"Where have you been?" A voice hissed. "I had to make excuses for your absence again."
Jungkook discreetly rolled his eyes. "It's not like I'm late."
"Come with me. We need to be present together to meet their expectations." Naomi demanded and pulled him after her.
"I'm not going to pretend that we're happy if it's the complete opposite." Jungkook grumbled, feeling her nails slightly dig into his bicep.
"Do you know what all I've sacrificed to keep our reputation? Don't you dare ruin it," She snapped, but when a couple headed over to greet them, her demeanor completely changed. She smiled sweetly, directing them with kind words. He wasn't sure when was the last time he's had the chance to see her smile like that at him.
Jungkook placed a hand on her waist, but not for the sake of a good image. For just a moment, he actually wanted to think they were happy and in love even though he knew they would slam each others doors, going to their seperate rooms at night.
He hated it.
He hated being a stranger to her.
