Chance Encounters

Chapter 2

It was a busy day at the company and Jennie can't stay in there anymore, Fred and Leo are always up on her sleeve reviewing the latest project. The smell of her office is becoming the scent of cigars her advisors are taking during work hours, she thinks that she too smells like that. She stepped out of her building and crossed to the opposite road towards the cafe where her secretary always buys her coffee, today she opt to check it out just to change her environment

"If I stay there a little longer, might as well be an old man! Gosh, my life is pathetic" she rants as she enters the cafe

What Jennie didn't expect is Rosé manning the counter with a huge smile on her face, it can't help that she also stretches her lips into a smile that she thinks will only be reserved for this hardworking friend of hers

"Jennie!" Rosé called excitedly

Jennie can't help but laugh so hard at this unexpected encounter again, it's like everywhere she goes, Rosé is there, working. It's still early so she assumes that this is her permanent job

"Well hello Rosé, what a surprise," she said softly after her hearty laugh

" Yes, we always meet"

"I guess this is your permanent job?"

"Yes, this is my permanent job, are you running errands nearby? "

"I work just in front of your cafe"

"Oh?! really? Why did I just see you here?"

"I'm not the one who buys my coffee, and I want to get out today" she smiled

"Wow, the world is really small" Rosé ponders, Jennie hums in confirmation giving her reassuring smile

"Oh, I forgot, what's your order, Ma'am?" Rosé went into work mode after their small talk and it amused Jennie

She told her order and Rosé 's eyes went wide in realization

"ahh, so it's yours"

"What?"

"Iced White Chocolate Mocha with an extra espresso shot, extra caramel drizzle, and sweet cream foam, haha! I know this one and I know your secretary" Rosé excitedly said as the person who orders Jennie's drink popped up in her mind

Jennie can't help but be happy at what's happening in her life, it's like when she met Rosé the universe makes them see each other often. Maybe this is her sign to pursue this friendship with Rosé. She was called to the counter to get her drink and Rosé was there still giving her that signature smile of hers

"Shift ends at?"

"5, Jennie, I actually don't have any scheduled part-time today" Jennie smiled at that

"Well then, just tell your name and they'll bring you to me" Jennie gave Rosé another rolls of bills which she knows Rosé would reject but she beat her to it

"Tip" Jennie winked and ended the conversation before going back to her office

To say Rosé is excited is underrated, she almost skips going to the other side of the road, and when she reached the reception of the Kim's building, the giddiness she felt turned to nervousness

"Rosé Park for Jennie Kim" the receptionist gave her a once over, making her conscious, she looked at herself and there was some sweat that trickles from her neck, her bangs dishevelled, but her yellow top and jeans are fine since she changed from her work clothes. When the receptionist hung up, she assists Rosé to the elevator and passed by cubicles where people are looking until they got to more private offices.
