(Before and During Season 2, Episode 2, September 2006)

Once the Social Workers arrived the Birdie and her baby brother were signed into their custody and they had to say goodbye to JJ and Reid. As the left, there were no hugs, just quiet goodbyes and a "Nice to meet you, Birdie. You and Buddy take care, okay?" from Reid.

Just as the Social Workers were about to escort the children out to the cars waiting for them, Birdie turned around and ran back to JJ. Standing right in front of her she motioned with her little finger for JJ to lean down so she could talk to her. JJ knelt in front of her, and gave her full attention.

Birdie starred her dead in the eye, "You gonna find my sister?"

"We're gonna do everything we can sweetie."

Birdie didn't seem satisfied, but she nodded and turned to take the waiting hand of the Social Worker.

As they left, everyone went back to their tasks, but JJ just stood and stared at the door.

"JJ, you gonna be okay?" Elle put a hand on her shoulder.

"No, ya. I'm gonna be fine." She said shaking her head out of its daze, "but we are finding that little girl."

As JJ walked away briskly, Reid and Elle shared a look of concern for their friend. They had never seen her this way, and they were both certain that JJ would not be letting this go anytime soon.

Birdie and Buddy were placed with foster parents and, although there were some struggles and difficulties getting them to adapt to normal life with a family, both of them did quite well. The team then put in their best efforts to locate Liddi, but there was not much to be found.

"Sir?" Garcia came in over the phone as JJ put it on speaker,

"We're all here Garcia, what do you have?"

"Well my loves, I wish I had more, but there has been one huge bit of news from the CSI lab regarding our missing girl."

JJ perked up and listened intently, secretly hoping this would lead them right to her.

"They tested the DNA they found in the house," Garcia continued, "And Ew. Gross. There was a lot, but aside from the parents and the evidence of the girls they were trafficking, they did find the DNA of all three children."

"What about it Garcia?" Morgan hurried her along.

"Well, there was the DNA of two girls and a boy, mostly in that one room where those poor babies probably slept... but that-"

"We already knew that we're looking for another girl." Gideon cut her off.

"Yes! But, but, but, and, and, and, what we did not know was that they are twins! The second little girl is little Birdie girl's twin!"

"Morgan, Elle," Gideon turned to them, "Didn't you say that the girls clothes all looked like they were for about the same age."

"Ya, they looked like they all would have fit Birdie." Elle confirmed.

"Oh my god, her twin." JJ thought aloud, "Hotch, what if she was sold, like the older girls."

"Twins would assumably bring a greater price if they'd been sold together," Hotch observed, "why keep one and sell the other?"
