"I'm off!"
Slingshot's voice rang from the house as he closed the door loudly. Shuriken sat down at the table. He was eating his breakfast Slingshot made before heading off to work, only just to make more desserts and brunch foods. It didn't matter though, he was off today, and slingshot managed to cook him up some of the meanest fluffiest pancakes known to demonkind.

Slingshot also made Vinestaff breakfast, but she went to tend to her garden first. That was the norm for her, always going after her garden before she ate breakfast every morning. Shuriken didn't understand how she did it. Every time he wakes up in the morning he's as hungry as a wolf, chowing down his food in almost an instant. Katana sat down next to him, carefully lathering butter onto the top of his pancakes with a butter knife. Shuriken and his siblings always saw Katana as their father, calling him "dad" from time-to-time. Katana trained him how to use his kunai to grapple onto almost anything he wanted, and took care of him and his siblings even if he and Slingshot weren't biological by blood, Katana always saw and took care of them as his own.

Today was quiet and reserved, with birds communicating with each other with tweets and chirps. Shuriken enjoyed watching the birds as he ate his food, seeing the small critters jump and fly from tree to tree while other birds followed like some sort of hivemind.

When Shuriken finished eating, he got up and scraped off the scramps on his dish into the trash and washed it off in the sink and scrubbed off the stains with a sponge. it's been quiet for a while, maybe a little too quiet. Vine was tending to her huge garden outside, she takes a while usually, but something felt off. It felt like she was taking longer than usual. Shuriken didn't pay attention to it because he didn't want to overthink anything. but anything could happen.
"I'm gonna check on Vine, okay dad?" Shuriken called out to Katana, him only giving a curt nod of approval.

Shuriken opened the back door to the outdoors.
