It was when Shuriken heard footsteps approach behind him. He turned around, looking like a huge mess with his eyes all puffy and red from his tears. The face was familiar, Shuriken's vision was all bleary but he could still make out the broad body shape of Katana. He felt everything stop in motion, his father seeing his daughter unmoving and forever cemented onto a tree and his son this sobbing mess. Katana stood there unmoving, just like Shuriken's initial reaction of everything whirring in his mind that everything was a cruel nightmare festered upon by the gods. But no, it was all real, and Katana couldn't believe it earlier.

"Shuriken," the demon said lightly, his voice steady and calm. "Come here."
Shuriken sat unmoving for a moment, concerning what his father may have wanted from him, he didn't wanna leave Vinestaff there, even though it wasn't like she was going anywhere or anything. He got up slowly, going over to Katana, wondering what he could need from him. Shuriken looked back on his sister, breathless and motionless, dead. He could barely hold back any sobs, tears streamed down his cheeks slowly, ruining the makeup around his eyes. It hurt to hold back anymore of his sobs in his throat.

"Hush child, nothing could be done to change what has happened. Nothing is your fault." Katana hushed Shuriken, reassuring him. He grabbed his son and hugged him tightly. This was the warm embrace Shuriken was longing for from his sister, the warm embrace he wanted to experience that everything was going to be okay in the end, the reassurance from his sister he longed for ever so desperately. Katana's touch soothed him, a feeling of comfort of a mother bird hushing their chick down after yearning for food. He dug his head into his fathers arms, letting everything out.

Katana stood there, rubbing circles gently on his son's back, mumbling words of comfort to him to get him to calm down, patiently waiting for him to realize that everything was gonna be okay.
