I walked inside the classroom and sat down at my desk. The desks were paired up in two. I didn't know the person that sat next to me because he had only come to this school a day before break.
"Did we have homework over break?"
"No."
"Thank god, I didn't do shit except sleep."
"Yep, hm hm."
"So whats your name?"
I looked up at the person. He had a relaxed rip-off mullet and a pink purple and blue braclet on his hand. His T-shirt was white, and his eyes blue.
"Im Carie."
"Nice, my names Jeremy."
"Nice name, Germ."
"Same to you, Car."
"Car? Seriously?"
"Well I don't have a lot to work with, small name."
"Small name? Thats SUCH a good insult."
I chuckled a bit, smiling as I rested my head on my palm.
"I know~ Right~?"
We were both making sarcastic remarks at eachother until the bell rang for next class. I gathered up the homework we had been given and smirked at Jeremy.
"See ya tomorrow, Germ."
"Same with you, Car."
Wow, a new friend already.
I walked out of the classroom and turned the corner, seeing Darla, who I had gym with next.
I ran to catch up with her, my bag hitting my leg. I put my hand down on her shoulder.
"BOO!"
"HOLY SHIT- Oh-"
"Got you!"
I chuckled as she stumbled back into a walk. I walked beside her, and Jason joined us.
"J.J.!"
"H.. hi darla.."
Darla hugged Jason and kissed his cheek, leaving a bright green lipstick mark. His face turned red as he pulled out a tissue and began rubbing his face aggressively. By the time it was gone, there were marks on his cheek.
Darla chuckled, and talked to Jason as we walked to gym. We got to the girls locker room, jasin leaving, and I grabbed my clothes. I started walking to a private changing room, when I was stopped by a shirtless girl. She was holding the girl's p.e. shirt in her hand.
"Ahem, the private changing room is for swimsuit changing only."
She looked at me smuggly. I walked past her. The teacher might have said that, but she couldn't stop me, nor my mom from yelling at the teacher about self consciousness if she stopped me.
After changing, I stood in the gym, and listened to the teacher explain how to climb a rope. I was choosen after a few kids went. One had made it halfway, and the other two just a quater.
I grabbed the rope and sighed, as the teacher started a stopwatch.
"Go!"
I began climbing, my hands gripping the rope tightly. Don't wings let butterflies fly? I tightly shut my eyes and lightly pushed my self up with a breeze from my wings. I reached out.
A DING followed by BEEP BEEP BEEP.
I heard a bunch of cheers, and opened my eyes. I was at the top of the rope, a hand on the bell. I hugged the rope tighter in shock. I wasn't scared of heights, just falling.
"Come on, I'll catch you if you fall!"
I saw the gym teacher get closer to the rope and put his arms out. I nodded and slowly climbed down. When my feet touched the mat, I realized I was slightly shaking.
Darla patted me on the shoulder and walked me to the back of the line.
"That was A-MAZING! How did you DO that!?"
I chuckled and rubbed my arm.
"I uh.. I've been working out over break..?"
"Oh! Whats your workout?"
"Uh.. it's specialized to fit me, so it wouldn't work for you, sorry, see ya girlie."
I snuck out of the gym when the teacher was focused on another scared student, and grabbed my things. There was no one in the locker rooms, so I changed. When I turned around, I saw her. The smug girl from earlier. Eyes wide like she saw a ghost. No, she saw my wings.
"I.. you.. you have wings!"
She ran into the gym and I chased after her.
"EVERYONE, CARIE HAS WINGS!"
Everyone looked at the girl, confused.
"I SAW THEM!"
I knew what I had to do, but I wished I didn't.
"What? Were you WATCHING me change? And people can't grow butterfly wings."
I heard chuckles, and saw faces of disgust. She turned around and glared at me. She ran towards me and grabbed the bottom of my shirt. Darla tackled her off me, and held her to the ground.
"No one lies about my friend, and then tries to take off her shirt!"
I nodded at darla, and she smiled at me.
