"i hate this unit" yoongi huffed, closing up his black colored notebook and folder he used for his health class and shoved it into his light blue backpack.
namjoon chuckled, "it's not that bad" he smiled as he closed his computer and slid it into his grey colored backpack which made yoongi sigh, "it is! i don't know anything!"
what was angina pectoris? what's a vessel? what is a capillary? what is a vein? what is an artery? is there a reason for having to know the different parts of the heart if he didn't want to become a cardiologist?
"i'll help you, just call me" his best friend spoke before the bell rang and they left the classroom.
—
maybe yoongi being bad at the cardiovascular unit should've been a sign that him doing anything with his heart and the heart of others was bad, including feelings associated with heartbreak.
let me tell you about kim taehyung.
if yoongi hadn't dozed off thinking about kim taehyung during class, he would have known that the boy gave him tachycardia, also known as fast heart rate.
everytime he saw taehyung's black messy hair and the way he ruffled it around, he felt as if his heart sunk to his feet and he lost his breath.
everytime he got to school early and saw the way rehearsed for marching band, he felt a warm feeling in his chest as the sun rose in the light blue sky in the background.
yoongi sat on a bench, letting the warm sun hit his face and he squinted his eyes to find taehyung among what seemed like hundreds of people rehearsing for band.
he smiled seeing him run back and forth whilst his fingers moved smoothly to make the right sounds on his trumpet.
—
"i hate that taehyung guy" namjoon whispered, a small huff leaving his mouth as they watched taehyung giggle with his friends in class.
yoongi turned red. his cheeks burned and he tuened to face his friend, "why is that?" he asked, earning a him from namjoon, "he's just.. you know? look at him"
the small boy did as told, watching how taehyung poked the backs of his friends and pushed their chairs with his feet that had black crocs with no charms on them. he wore a dark blue sweatshirt that had wording spread across it and a cartoon near son it, how endearing. the sweatshirt was short, so he wore a white shirt underneath it.
"what about him?" he nervously laughed, "are you serious? look at his posture. have you seen the way he walks? he walks like a duck" namjoon said, yoongi crossed his arms a bit and shrugged.
yes, the boy walked a bit weird, but yoongi didn't care. who was he to judge?
—
yoongi spent the whole semester liking kim taehyung and his quirks which included, but were not limited to the way he opened his phone camera and ruffled his hair to make it look fluffier (at least that's what yoongi thought taehyung was trying to do) and laughing so loud that he hid face from the lunch room.
the small boy spent doing everything in his power to see if taehyung would notice. he styled his hair in different ways, wore dark clothes, woek light clothes, wore neutral colors, wore ripped jeans, wore flared jeans, wore red lip tint, wore pink tint. as expected, not a single peep from taehyung.
—
yoongi
sigh he's so pretty
seokjin
yoon i'm so sorry but he's not that good looking
you can do so much better
—
yoongi put his phone away, a sigh of disappointment leaving his lips as he tried to focus on his food instead of the beautiful boy sitting a couple rows away from him.
simply, it was hard to. his stomach formed knots as he watched the boy drink overpriced apple juice and eat plastic-like rice and chewy orange chicken from the lunch line.
yoongi's friends never failed to talk bad about taehyung, if taehyung hypothetically likes yoongi, does that mean they talk bad about him too?
do they judge his physical appearance too? do they every one of his actions? yoongi is aware he's not perfect, but he is not completely flawed.
yoongi helps the community! yoongi knits hats for people during winter! yoongi wants to go into healthcare and help low income families! yoongi is a good person! what possible flaws does taehyung see in him?
—
it was all he could think about. once the thought hit him, he sobbed until he physically couldn't.
he would keep a plain expression throughout the school day and would just scroll through his phone to avoid thinking about him. it felt like yoongi had done everything to make him at least notice him.
in all honesty, yoongi had given up on trying to impress taehyung. he needed to just get over him and move on, but how could he? have you seen kim taehyung? would you walk into the museum of modern art and not look at the starry night? would you not admire it?
no other boy at the school could compare to taehyung's beauty.
—
"are you alright?" namjoon asked yoongi who was staring into space during math, "yeah" he breathed out and showed a small smile, ignoring the tears that rapidly developed in his eyes.
he quickly wiped them away and used the school provided calculator to work, but his heart ached as he did so. how come taehyung didn't like him? how come he never even noticed him?
"do you want some cookies?" namjoon asked, pulling out a pack of cookies from his backpack and setting them on the table, "no thank you"
on a normal day, yoongi would have happily accepted the offer, but he couldn't. he was too sad over a stupid boy to eat.
—
normally, there's a happy ending.
notice how i said 'normally'? this story is not one of those.
min yoongi will have to go the rest of his school years admiring the band boy and come to terms with the fact he doesn't and will never get the chance to know what it's like to text him all day or know what it's like to walk next to him in the halls.
no matter how fast his heart raced, kim taehyung would never be his.
—
stay safe and healthy! drink water and eat some food! sorry for any mistakes, i love you all! qotd: are you doing anything for the holidays?? what is your favorite holiday food??
