Have you ever had to choose between your family and your own happiness. Do you ever feel like running away?
Well I do, My father was a very honest and noble man, who was very well known for his good works in our small village. He owned a ranch and he was very contented with whatever he had, he loved his family so much, he worked so hard to send me to school in in town.
Everyday when I came back from school, I always helped my mother out to make a nice meal and we will all eat together under the night sky besides the fire, happy and full of content. Everything was going fine until Don Marco showed up.
Don Marco was a rich man, who owned a loan company in the city. He was a big tyrant and everyone feared him. He came to our village and so how well my father's ranch prospered and he came up with a business idea, he entered partnership with my father and expanded the ranch.
It all started out good and nice, there was a big turnout after the first year and the interest doubled, So Don Marco invested again, this time triple.Everything was going well up until my Mama fell sick, my father had to take her to the city for treatment because the doctors In our town couldn't handle it. He used all of his proceeds from the ranch to pay for Mama's treatment.
Everyone thought that Don Marco had forgotten about the business because me went to prison. So Papa left the ranch and focused on Mama. We were all happy that Mama was recovering until, Don Marco returned. He came asking for his interest but Papa explained everything to him.
He refused to listen and he kept threatening Papa everyday. Papa had to sell his ranch to pay the interest but Don Marco demand more, He wanted to marry me, a payment for the delay of the interest.
“God Forbid,” I said, when papa told me about Don Marco's plans to marry me. I never wanted to marry Don Marco, I wanted to go to school. I was in love with someone else who was going to help me fulfill my dream of going to the city and becoming a lawyer.
We plan to elope together and go to the city. I've already told Mama and she has giving me her blessings, even though I'm scared about what Don Marco might do to my family, I also want to be happy.
We leave for the city tonight.
