Holding her duffel bag against her chest, a young teen with shoulder length strands of chestnut brown waves, looked around the crowded airport with a sense of unease. She had lost her sister in the sea of people when they had gone to collect their luggage and she hadn't been able to find her since. Her bottom lip was nestled between her teeth, exactly where it had remained for the last twenty minutes.

Breathing deeply, she stepped to the side, narrowly avoiding the elbow she could see heading towards her stomach. Blinking rapidly, her knuckles turned an unhealthy shade of white as her hands curled around her bag and formed into tight fists.

She hoped that her sister had managed to find their dad, Charlie, and was waiting for her to arrive instead of leaving without her. She was sure that they wouldn't and the raspy voice in the back of her mind agreed but there was a small part of her that firmly believed they would.

Shaking her head, she thought about grabbing her phone and calling the man when she remembered that it had died on the way to the airport and needed to be put on charge. Navigating her way through the horde of people, she finally managed to find the escalator and blew out a deep breath. Hesitating, her forest green orbs watched the stairs go down for a few moments before she stepped on.

Letting one of her arms unravel from its place around her bag, she clutched onto the railing and held it tightly, not letting go until she could climb off. Now that she was on the ground floor, the first thing she noticed was all of the families holding up cardboard signs with names written in big black ink splattered across them.

Reading over each and every one, she failed to find hers and felt her shoulders deflate. They had to be here somewhere, she was sure of it. They wouldn't just leave without her. Releasing her lip from its home between her teeth, she ran her tongue over the sensitive piece of skin and winced at the tenderness she received.

"I'm so sorry," she gasped after knocking into someone's side. Instead of acknowledging her apology, the teen who couldn't have been that much older than herself, scoffed in disgust and flicked her long, blonde hair over her shoulder before turning back to her friends.

Nodding her head, she smiled meekly as she understood the silent message being sent her way. Walking past, she decided that the better option would be to go outside and wait. At least that way, she wouldn't bump into anyone else.

Spotting the large, glass doors on the other side of the room, she huffed quietly. With her eyes glistening in determination, she set about making her way over when suddenly, she felt like she was being watched. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up on end, alerting her to the possible danger that surrounded her but upon looking around and seeing nothing but people going about their day, she shook her head.
