┗━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┛Opening the door to the Carver Cafe, Felicity saw her dad sitting in the far right corner and smiled softly. Sliding her bag off of her back, she dropped down on the seat in front of him and placed her bag between her legs. "How was work?" She asked, her voice soft and quiet as she picked up the red, laminated menu from off of the table.
"Slow," Charlie admitted, his smile hidden beneath his moustache. "But, I'm not complaining. A day without any incidents is a good day in my book." Grabbing his glass he took a small sip of water before he placed it back down on the table. "How was your first day? Did you make any friends?" He asked.
Felicity nodded her head as she placed the menu on top of her lap. "It was good," she said with an awkward laugh. "I met this girl, named Angela. She was really nice, helped me out in class, invited me to her house to study and introduced me to all of her friends." Smiling, she bit the inside of her cheek. "She also convinced me to join the school paper so hopefully that'll be fun."
Clearing her throat, Felicity turned and looked out of the window. In Phoenix, she had found it particularly hard to make friends, what with them preferring to spend time with Bella over herself but that wasn't something she minded. She was perfectly content with being on her own, reading her books but with Angela, it was different. She wanted to be her friend and hoped that that was something Angela wanted too.
"Webber?" Charlie asked and when his daughter nodded her head, he smiled. "She's a good kid." Shuffling around in the booth, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and gave her a gentle squeeze. "I'm so proud of you honey," he said, giving the top of her head a gentle kiss, knowing that she, much like himself, found comfort in being alone.
Hearing the bell ding, Charlie looked over his shoulder and saw Bella walking into the Diner. Waving her over, he moved ever so slightly to the right so that he was sitting between his girls, giving them enough space on either side. "I ordered for you, I hope that's okay?" He asked once Bella had sat down but she just grunted in response, her eyes heavy and tired.
Opening her mouth to talk, Felicity quickly clamped it shut as a steaming plate of BBQ chicken wings and fries with a side of peas was placed in front of her. Giving her dad a quick glance, she saw his awkward smile and shook her head fondly. "Thank you," she said with a smile.
Cora smiled back as she reached out to her portable table, grabbed another two plates and put them down in front of both Charlie and Bella. "I just can't get over how grown up you both are," she gushed, her eyes glistening with disbelief. "And so Gorgeous. Both of you."
"Hey, City, Bella," a tall, balding, middle aged man called out as he stood next to their booth, draping his arms across the back of Felicity's chair. "Do you two remember me?" He asked but Felicity and Bella looked at him in confusion. "I played Santa one year," he explained.
