CALEB THOMSON—————————————————
The dismissal bell rang, and the halls flooded with obnoxious teenagers. I was standing at my locker, and putting in my combination. I looked over, and realized that my friend Keria was running towards me. She jumped up on my shoulders, and wrapped her arms around me. She threw off my balance, and I put my hand on a locker to keep myself from falling. I dropped her, and she fell backwards, nearly hitting her head on the vinyl floor. I looked down at her, not amused. ' Caleb! What the hell?' She screamed, her voice heading towards a squeal.
' Do you expect me to carry you?'
She looked down at her light colored shoes, and didn't say a word. I turned back to my locker, and shoved my text books in, slamming the door.
' Have a little attitude, don't ya?' She pestered, standing up from the floor.
' I hope you get distracted by a butterfly, and slam into a brick wall.'
Keria headed down the hall to retreat her backpack that she abandoned a few lockers down. She walked back to me, ' Rough night huh?'
I stayed silent, trying my hardest to avoid making eye contact with her. She lifted up the strap to her backpack up her shoulder.
We started to head down to the band room, walking shoulder to shoulder. ' Is your arm okay?' She asked.
I looked at her, stunned by the question, and looked down at my wrist. My thickly wrapped bandages were slightly poking out from my blazer. I jerked my arm away from her, and pulled my sleeve down to my knuckles.
' It's fine.'
' Are you sure? It looks pretty bad,' she asked, her tone sounding concerned.
' Really,  it's fine. You don't need to worry about it,' I grumbled, as we walked into the band room doors.
The band room was bare, very unusual for a Tuesday evening. Our eyes gazed around the room as we walked up to Mr. Nowlin's desk. He was sitting there silently staring at his computer screen.
'Practice is canceled, Caleb and Keria,' He said, without even looking up from his screen.
We stood a few feet away from his desk, ' Since when?' I asked.
'I don't feel very well, so I canceled practice,' He explained, furiously typing on his computer.
' I put it up on BandApp.'
I put my hand on my pocket that was carrying my phone, ' Huh, I guess I didn't get the notification.'
He looked up at us from his computer, and nodded. ' Go home, children.'
I nudged Keira on the shoulder, and we both turned around, heading for the door.

JOSHUA BOYER
DANSBERG AREA HIGH SCHOOL
———————————————————————————I was sitting on the steps of the gazebo outside of school. My best friend Max was crouched in a corner in the back of the gazebo, staring at his phone.  I was watching other kids in my year walk out of the school, and get onto the buses.
I could hear the deafening and vexatious voice of  Danny Levan from a mile away yelling, 'Ayo Boyer!' He approached me, and patted my shoulder harshly.
He sat down next to me throwing his backpack behind him, almost hitting Max.
' You alright mate?' I asked, trying to make this the quickest interaction with him I possibly could.
' Nothing much Boyer, what about you?
That was the nicest he has sounded in months, ' Nothing really exciting.'
' Come on man, what about you and Lesley?'  He asked, with a dumb smirk and nudging me on the shoulder harshly again.
I've been dating Lesley Garmin for only a few weeks. She is on the cheer squad, while I'm on the football team. She thinks that we are some kind of Romeo and Juliet, but ever since I started dating her, I haven't understood why I liked her in the first place.
Lesley came walking up to the gazebo with a big smile spread across her face, her blue laced dress flowing in each step. ' Hey handsome,' she cooed, walking up to me.
She pulled one of the sides of my middle part behind my ear, and sat down on the other side of me. I stayed silent for a moment and ran one hand through my hair to fix it.
Danny and Max were trying to stifle their laughter. Lesley looked back at them, her pearly white smile slowly fading. ' Do you guys have a problem?' She asked, her smile appearing again.
Danny jerked his head back, and mid-laughter he said, ' No, no, no.'
'Okay then...' she pulled her phone out of a small pocket of her backpack that looked more like a purse than a backpack. ' You wouldn't mind if you took a picture of us for my Instagram?'
Danny's smile got wider, ' Sure!'
I made an awkward smile for the picture, but she grabbed my face and kissed me on the lips.
My first kiss was just wasted on someone who made me want to scream into a pillow. Danny smiled, handing the phone back to her with his eyes looking like they were going to pop out of his head. Max was trying to hide his shock from behind his phone.
'Alright,I'll see you guys later,' She said, standing up, and swinging her bag over her shoulder.
She started to walk away, and turned back and looked at me, ' Bye Josh.' Then, she blew me a kiss.
I sighed, and ran one hand through my hair, staring down at the ground.
There was dead silence for 10 seconds as Lesley walked farther and farther away from the gazebo, then Max spoke up, ' So handsome!' In a high pitched tone, trying to mock her.
Danny started laughing, and my face started to burn up, 'Shut up mate! She has never done this before!' I snapped.
'Yeah right. We all wonder what happens while they are alone,' he said, looking back at Max
They both started laughing again, and I ran one hand through my hair, keeping one hand on my head, pulling even my hair slightly. I stared down at the cement, regretting every choice I've made in this past year.

CALEB THOMSON
———————————————————————————
Me and Keira finally got to the old abandoned building by my house. We saw Frankie sitting on a bench in the side of the parking lot. 'Frankie!' Keira screamed, 'Hold my flowers.'
Keira shoved the flowers that she collected on the walk here in my hands, and I instantly dropped them on the ground and kicked them out of the way. while Keria ran over to Frankie and jumped onto his shoulders.
I sighed, and slowly trudged up to the bench. 'So practice was canceled, huh?' He asked, pulling Keira off like a roach.
'Uh... yeah,'
I sat down on the bench, and pulled my phone out of my pocket. Keira looked back at the parking lot, and at her pile of her flowers spread around the blacktop. 'Caleb, what the hell!'
She stormed to the end of the parking lot, and picked up her flowers.
She stormed back to the bench ' Why did you drop my flowers!' She yelled, throwing one on my lap.
I stared up at her, and down at the flower on my lap. I picked the flower off my lap, and threw it on the ground, and stomped on it.
Keira started to frown a little bit, almost like she was going to cry. She turned over to Frankie who sat down on the bench next to me. ' Hey, Hey, it's okay. Look at this,' He said, showing Keria his phone.
She took his phone, and stared at his screen for a moment. A warm smile appeared on her face, and she started to giggle.
I rolled my eyes and pulled my phone out of my pocket. Keira sat down next to Frankie, and they started watching videos on his phone, which I didn't find amusing.
We could hear a police siren from downtown the whole way up to where we were. It wasn't unusual around here. The police car went up the hill, and I got off my phone, and stood up, and Frankie and Keira went dead silent. I pulled up the strap of my backpack up my shoulder, and the police car pulled into my driveway. I sighed, and started to walk up the hill. What did they do now? As I got closer to my driveway two police officers jumped out of the car, and pointed their guns at my chest. 'Put your hands up!'
