It was soon discovered that Percy Jackson, despite what he'd convinced himself, had an area in which he excelled. He was an incredibly talented swordsman.

Adonis had been tending to a wounded camper next to the sword-fighting arena. It had pissed him off when the Hermes cabin counsellor had volunteered Percy for a demonstration, of course Luke would do that, it was the best way to prove to his cabin mates how skilled he was, by defeating a boy with a clearly unbalanced sword and minimal experience.

He'd cheered Percy on when he stepped up to the challenge, earning a lopsided smile from the green-eyed boy. Luke expertly demonstrated the disarming technique before everyone went to get drinks. Adonis's attention left his patient when he spotted Percy pouring water on himself out of the corner of his eye. He noticed how the other boy seemed to perk up immediately and, if he focused enough, he could see Percy's green eyes almost glow with strength.

He was so deep in thought that he almost missed Percy's expert disarming skills, the boy's movements were strong yet fluid and his face stony with concentration, it was captivating.

Theories began to race in his mind about what this could mean, the exploding toilets, the strength when in water, even his unnaturally beautiful sea green eyes. He hastily dismissed Travis, who's leg was now healed and left to find Annabeth. If his theory was correct, they'd have to adjust their strategy for capture the flag.

The game couldn't come quickly enough, the Athena and Apollo cabin were on the same team as always, as well as the Hermes cabin – which meant Percy was too.

Annabeth had divulged her plan to Adonis the day before and the Apollo counsellor had been supremely against it. The thought of using Percy as bait for a homicidal Clarisse made him feel sick. It was only when Annabeth told him he could supervise did he agree to it and, thanks to his bout of inspiration, he'd decided they would be changing their flags location.

After a suspense filled dinner, the teams gathered at the edge of the forest as Chiron explained the rules (rules which Adonis knew would not be followed once the game began).
He spotted Percy's nervous face next to Luke and sent the boy a reassuring smile and discreet thumbs up. Percy gave a small nod of thanks in return and with that, everyone went to their stations.

After sending his siblings to his stations and insisting Will stay with Chiron, Adonis quickly hid in the trees and looked at his watch. It was a beautiful gold thing which displayed the hours of sun and moonlight, as well as the time - but that wasn't what he was going to use it for.

He quickly twisted the clockface clockwise and watched as his hands vanished, he was invisible. It had been a gift from his father and was one of his favourite possessions alongside his enchanted bow and quiver. He remembered Annabeth's jealousy when they'd discovered this feature. She'd complained how there was no risk of him losing the watch since he never took it off, while she had to walk around with her Yankees cap in her pocket.

Adonis began to follow Percy and Annabeth to the creak. Adonis had suggested the spot as he suspected that water was something Percy could use to his advantage, which he'd need if Clarisse did what Annabeth hoped she would.
He watched, amused, as Percy protested being defence to Annabeth who would not be swayed.

Adonis waited and watched as, predictable as always, Clarisse and a few of her brothers emerged from the trees. Their faces were twisted with unjustified hatred and their strong hands clutching deadly looking weapons.

Adonis loaded his bow when he saw Clarisse's electric spear. He had to restrain himself from shooting the ugly thing out of her hands when she stalked towards his friend, taunting the new boy as if she was perfectly justified to threaten him. Jealousy permeated her self-righteous speech in a way that made Adonis unbelievably angry, but he restrained himself for the sake of Annabeth's plan.

As he'd anticipated, the daughter of Ares wasted no time in stabbing at Percy – electrocuting him and rendering his arms useless. Adonis let an arrow fly towards a tree, directly in front of the girl's sneering face. Her jump was apparent and Percy barked out a shocked laugh which was quickly silenced by a kick to the gut and a cut to the cheek.

"No maiming!" Adonis barked, still invisible, causing the Ares kids to frantically brandish their weapons at thin air. Percy took that as an opportunity to swing at Clarisse, cutting her precious spear in half.

There was a cry of victory in the distance and Adonis and Percy turned and watched with glee as Luke sprinted through the trees and into the safety of their zone. They had won!

Immediately, Annabeth removed her cap, coming into view and Adonis followed suit, drawing an arrow and aiming it at Clarisse's head, daring her to attack Percy further. He met Percy's shocked gaze with a shit-eating grin. "Thanks for the assist." Percy breathed and Adonis shrugged as much as he could while holding the drawstring taut, "That's what friends are for. Though it is half my fault that you were in this position in the first place."

Annabeth shrugged unapologetically at his side, "Athena always has a plan." Adonis smiled at his best friend proudly.

Their happiness was short lived as the trio heard a branch snap from the thick brush. In the cloudy evening light, they couldn't see what was prowling there.
Adonis turned his aim in that direction just as a giant hellhound bounded from the treeline and pounced on top of Percy, biting him through the armour and sending a heart-shattering scream of pain ricocheting between the trees.

In a split second, Adonis had shot an arrow directly through the beast's eye and into its brain, turning it to dust instantly. All that remained was Percy, covered in a mixture of golden dust and his own blood, groaning with pain. The son of Apollo was at his side in an instant and Chiron and the other campers came scrambling to their location, faces tight with worry.

Adonis used his steady hands to assess the injuries made to Percy's abdomen, trying his best to ignore his friend's pained groans. They were severe, potentially life threatening. He knew he didn't have the energy to use his magic to heal them, the persistent storm clouds had been draining his magic slowly but surely over the course of a few months - to the point where he could barely heal a bruise without passing out. He squeezed Percy's hand in reassurance as an insane idea entered his mind.

"I'm sorry." He whispered and he hooked his arms beneath Percy's and began to drag him into the creek, eliciting shouts of pain from the other boy. He continued to whisper faint apologies and allowed Percy's grip to practically break his hand, he was squeezing so tight.

Finally, Adonis managed to lay his friend down in the creek and laid his head on his lap, the cries of pain had stopped. He watched with fascination as the wound on Percy's abdomen stitched itself together, the blood washed away in the water – leaving a perfectly healed stomach.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Adonis helped Percy to stand and slung his arm over his shoulder (their matching height meant that this was easy enough). The two shared a small reassuring smile and Percy mouthed his thanks.

He was beginning to lead Percy from the creek when everybody's gaze fixed on something above them. Adonis, worried it was another monster, whipped his gaze skyward to find a bright sea green trident floating above Percy's head. Everybody, including the very begrudging Ares kids, began to kneel.

Adonis gently removed himself from Percy's side and followed suit. Percy looked down at him in confusion before taking note of a bright green light above his head, he looked up just as the sea green trident began to fade.

"Earth-shaker, Storm-bringer, Father of horses. Hail Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon, the god of the Seas!"

A/N - Woooohoooo!!! Percy's been claimed! How do you think this will affect his and Adonis's relationship?
