"Your friend tried to get my number yesterday." Brianna laughs as I sit next to her. Santino takes his seat on my other side, quickly glancing at Brianna before looking away.
"Cameron? Oh I'm not surprised. He keeps asking about you everytime he sees me." I reply. "I felt bad but I had to turn him down. He doesn't seem all that good boyfriend material." She replies.
I let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness. I'd hate to call your mom and tell her you're making poor choices out here." I joke.
"Please don't." She laughs. "Don't worry, you did great." After hesitating for a moment, I decide to warn her about him.
"He's going to be persistent, bri. Cameron is not the type guy you can trust. He only cares about what people think of him and getting in good with people he can use for the time being. Please be careful around him." I warn.
Brianna and I are close like siblings due to our parents being childhood friends. Our parents were neighbors growing up, and since they never moved cities, of course we were bound to be close.
Despite that, Brianna and I have never liked each other in a romantic way. Hell, we physically fought sometimes growing up. We had a real brother sister dynamic going on between us.
If anything, I want to protect her from the sleazy college guys who just want to have sex with her. Cameron is one of those guys.
He did always talk about his dreams of being popular and having a bunch of girlfriends...but I never thought he'd abandon his real friends in the process.
He can have popularity and all that bullshit. But he doesn't get to be my friend in private and diss me in public. I've never been that desperate for friends.
If anything, he should be thanking Antonio and I for not exposing what a self serving sleazeball he really is.
"You okay?" Brianna asks. I can't hide the anger I feel. "No." "Wanna talk about it over lunch?" She asks. "Sure."
We meet up at lunch and sit at the same table. Of course some of my other friends are here, but she decided to sit with my crew today.
"What's wrong?" She asks. "It's Cameron!" I exclaim.
"Oh boy, I should've known." She scoffs. "He's completely changed!" I explain.
"In middle and highschool, he and Antonio and I were best friends. Now? All he cares about is being popular."
"Not surprised. People are always dying to be loved and liked by everyone." Brianna replies, chuckling to herself.
"You should know, huh?" I joke. "Hey, it's not my fault I'm popular. Maybe it's my cute nose." She replies.
"Definitely not cute at all." "Shut up rude ass. Now finish the gossip! I need deets!"
"I'm really angry because he dissed me and Antonio in public, like he was too good to be seen associating with us in public...and then have the nerve to ask me to hook him up with you after class." I explain.
"Aha! So there it is!" Antonio interjects, leaning over slightly. His friend, a very pretty black girl with curly hair, looks over at us with curiosity. They seem to be working on a project together.
