"Oh my god, it's been one hell of a week." Brianna sighs as she plops down in the seat across from me.
"Tell me about it. Here." I slide a cup of coffee across the table to her, her absolute favorite cup of coffee. "Ooh, my fave. I love you," she giggles.
"Mhmm, love you too. Don't forget about your muffin," I remind her, sliding the small bag across the table.
"Woah, what's the occasion?" She asks, smiling at me. "No ocassion, I'm just in a good mood lately." I reply with a shrug.
"Mhm...let me guess, you started dating someone?" She asks. Damn, she's good. "Yeah, actually. Emma." I reply. Hopefully she approves because she knows who means me any good and who doesn't.
"Good choice or nah?" I ask, looking up at her. "Yeah, good choice. She's a sweet girl." Brianna replies.
"Yeah she is. But anyway, enough about her...you'd never believe what Cameron has been up to." I change the subject with a laugh.
"Oh you guys are back cool?" She asks. "Girl hell no. Fuck that dude. But you know how rumors work around here. Word is he got some freshman girl here pregnant already." I tell her.
"Really? What a dumb ass. I guarantee his family is cutting him off or something." Brianna replies with a laugh. "Exactly. I only feel bad for Britany." "Damn they know who it is already?" Brianna asks.
"Her social life is ruined." She adds on. "Sure is. And her peace. Imagine having Cameron as the father of your child." I agree. "Sounds terrible. Have you heard anything about Ashley yet?" Brianna asks.
"No, why?" I ask. "Because, she hooked up with Payton's boyfriend right before the party. I wanted to make sure she didn't just put herself right in the middle of a scandal or not."
"Even if she did, don't stress yourself out about it. That's what she chose to do." I say before taking a sip of my coffee.
"Yeah you're right...but I can't help but worry about her. But as long as Payton knows that's what Ashley decided to do on her own then we're good. I have no use for the drama." Brianna replies.
"Exactly and you know that's gonna turn into a disaster. Mason is a sly bastard. He'll have them two played and laid before we can even blink." I say. Brianna laughs.
"And Payton is annoying as hell. Why would she want to make an enemy out of her?" I ask. "Said she wanted to have some fun, and she wanted to get back at Payton for taunting her." Brianna replies. I can't help but face palm myself.
"I'm sorry but you women bring a lot of your problems onto yourself. She's taunting her because she's getting close to her boyfriend, duh! And I guarantee Ashley is gonna fall for him, get mad because him and Payton are more entwined than she thinks, and walks away with a broken heart and a bad reputation."
Brianna laughs even more. "You sound just like your dad right now." She snickers. "Oh shut up. You know it's true." "Yeah it's true but you said just like Dan."
As Brianna and I settled into our 1-on-1 studying session at the library, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and familiarity. Brianna and I had been close childhood friends for as long as I could remember, and our bond was one that withstood the test of time. We were like two peas in a pod, sharing both laughter and secrets.
