"If you think I'm joking you are more dense than I ever thought!" My jaw clenched, "I mean it, make sure it happens Quinn!" I smash the end call button to hang the phone up on my uncle. It took everything in me not to throw it across the road side where me and a lot of people are stood after the shooting incident.
"How did that go?" Craig says with a laugh knowing it clearly didn't go—what I would call well.
"Oh yeah, fucking perfect thankyou PC Plod!" My voice is sarcastic as ever. Now I'm in a mood.
"What was that about?"
"Doesn't matter. Where's Holly?" I start to look around.
"Make shift ambulance..."
"You know she actually needs a hospital right?" I snap thinking they can't just brush this off and hope it heals, she needs it cleaned and stitched.
He pats my shoulder, "Alex is on standby for her as we speak!" Alex meaning an actual doctor hired by my uncle to take care of any injuries that occur. "I'll drop her off home when we are done."
"Okay perfect, thankyou."
"I think we might have to take your new friends in to an actual hospital though...they seem to be in...shock?..." His eyes dart across figuring them out.
"Nah, they're just plastered Craig mate..." I look across to them too and they do look alittle crazy dancing around and laughing given everything, but they have drunk a lot of vodka and it's better than sitting and crying. Scanning around more I catch Leah, she is shaking like a leaf with a face of confusion towards her big group who look like escaped psych patients.
I walk over to her taking off my jacket. "You'll freeze, take this." It's October for god sake, I wish people would dress more sensibly. "They have beer blankets on, take it." I chuckle noticing her reluctancy.
"Thankyou." Her tone is brittle. "Are—are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I smile, "Few scrapes here and there but..." I shrug.
With a nod she takes a deep breath, "This might be alittle forward...but...can I get your number?"
I have a split second to think. I never give out my personal number, my contacts consist of my older sister, my older brother, my mother, my uncle, and Holly. My 'work' number is strictly off limits for obvious reasons. However, this blonde intrigued me. Amidst the bustling around us, my attention was instantly captured by her presence from across. She was a vision in blonde, effortlessly navigated through the chaos with an air of serene confidence that seemed to defy the urban frenzy.
Her golden locks danced in the gentle breeze right before me, framing a face that exuded an ethereal allure. There was a captivating grace in the way she looked, an elegant rhythm that drew my gaze like a magnet, leaving me intrigued by this enigmatic stranger.
She seemed to possess an innate magnetism that transcended the ordinary; her eyes held a depth that hinted at a myriad of untold stories waiting to be unraveled. Despite the anonymity of the crowd, she still stood out like a beacon, her presence sparking a curiosity within me that was impossible to ignore.
I can't help but find myself drawn to her enigmatic aura, wondering about the mysteries hidden beneath her poised demeanor. In that fleeting moment, amidst the chaos, I couldn't shake the feeling that encountering her was more than just chance – it felt like the beginning of an intriguing journey into the unknown.
Cali shut up girl, are you forgetting your job? the danger you could put people in? are you forgetting this is why you have never been in a relationship or let people get to know you? Don't be so stupid.
